Popular Post tgo
Here's kind of how I could see a Biden administration looking based on reporting and connections, for the sake of political nerdery. We can use this thread to discuss Cabinet picks later on. I've put alternative options in parenthesis. Just something new to go back and forth about Update: Actual nominees are bolded and underlined. Others are just speculative or based on reports of contenders for the position. Biden Administration: President: Joe Biden Vice President: Kamala Harris Counselor to the President: Steve Richetti Senior Advisor: Mike Donilon Senior Advisor and WH Director of Public Engagement: Cedric Richmond Advisors: Ted Kaufman, Bruce Reed Chief of Staff: Ron Klain Deputy Chief of Staff: Jen O'Malley Dillon Director of Intergovernmental Affairs: Julie Chavez Rodriguez Director of WH Communications: Kate Bedingfield Press Secretary: Jen Psaki Deputy Press Secretary: Karine Jean-Pierre Chief VP Spokesperson: Symone Sanders Special Presidential Envoy for Climate: John Kerry National Climate Advisor: Gina McCarthy National Security Advisor: Jake Sullivan Secretary of State: Antony Blinken Secretary of Defense: Lloyd Austin Secretary of Treasury: Janet Yellen Attorney General: Merrick Garland Secretary of Homeland Security: Alejandro Mayorkas Secretary of Energy: Jennifer Granholm Secretary of Education: Miguel Cardona Secretary of HHS: Xavier Becerra Secretary of Commerce: Gina Raimondo Secretary of Veterans Affairs: Denis McDonough Secretary of Interior: Deb Haaland Secretary of Agriculture: Tom Vilsack Secretary of Labor: Marty Walsh Secretary of HUD: Marcia Fudge Secretary of Transportation: Pete Buttigieg COVID Czar: Jeff Zients Homeland Security Advisor: ? UN Ambassador: Linda Thomas-Greenfield NATO Ambassador: Nicholas Burns Surgeon General: Vivek Murthy NIAID Director: Anthony Fauci OMB Director: Neera Tanden EPA Adminstrator: Michael Regan Trade Representative: Katherine Tai NEC Chair: Brian Neese Council of Economic Advisors Chair: Cecilia Rouse Small Business Administration Director: Keisha Lance-Bottoms CIA Director: William Burns FBI Director: Chris Wray DNI: Avril Haines Secretary of the Navy: James Stavridis (William McRaven/Ray Mabus) Secretary of the Army: Bob McDonald (Chuck Hagel) Secretary of the Air Force: Deborah Lee James (Michael Donley) SCOTUS Nominee: Ketanji Brown Jackson (to replace Breyer in a couple years) There are a ton of other Biden allies that it would be great to find spots for as well, but alas there's limited room. Mabus will probably be Harris’ National Security Advisor as he was during her campaign but if not, should be Navy Secretary. Titans279
Nothing for Stacey Abrams or Beto O’Rourke? Both seem capped out at the state level for now. Soxcat
LongTimeFan
So it's not really based on being able to perform the job, you just have to be a Biden ally. Got it. Titans279

It would be ideal to find a spot for them, but I'm not sure what their best positions would be, as they have no real expertise relative to current cabinet jobs. Stacey Abrams could be a lead person on Voting Rights and O'Rourke could be a lead person on gun control, but where do they fit in? Abrams would be a good candidate for HUD, but she'd probably be wanting to run for Governor full time relatively quickly after the first 6 months in that position.

Everyone on the list is perfectly suited for the job I slotted them for and have expertise for the relevant position, many of them having held the same spot under Obama.
