If marino was drafted this year I would be scared. Dude was in an era where a qb was not a trump card. In todays nfl he may have been utterly destructive. We could be talking about a whole new goat. Oiler FANatic
Right now the Colts are simply this year's version of last year's Browns. The team that the idiots are all picking to be a Super Bowl contender. rns90, and Callidus

It's a bit premature to make such a bold statement. His career record (including the playoffs) is 18-16. That's some Jeff Fisher-esque numbers there. And most people here would never go so far as to call him a really good coach, even though he was.

Really is crazy how many have jumped on the Colts bandwagon this offseason, even some idiots talking about them as a top tier Super Bowl contender. Amazing that 5 months ago everyone was talking about Rivers being done and now he is the Colts savior and will lead them to a Super Bowl title. He was 10-6 his first year, then had his franchise QB quit right before the start of the season. Made due with the stiff Brissett but lets see how he does with a QB he wanted. BudsOilers
Rivers in terms of career is incredibly overrated. Never the best or near the best in his era, never with a big game signature moment. Just cumlative numbers that look more impressive than they really are. The Colts have zero excuses with the cream puff schedule the league gifted them with in weeks 1-6. They start the season in Jacksonville, then come home to play the Vikings week 2. That game is by far their hardest one before their bye week. Then they host the Jets before going to Chicago week 4. Then they go to Cleveland before coming back home to play the Bungles week 6. If Rivers is not done, as the Colts are gambling $25M on, then there is no way that the team should be any worse than 4-2 going into their bye. But if he continues to play like he did last season, the washed-up 38-year old the Chargers gladly let walk, then Brissett should be starting by week 8. There’s actually video of Schott instructing the corners before the game to watch for strip attempts if they pick the ball because the Pats offensive players try to get the ball back. Not that Marlon McCree, a 10 year vet, should need instruction on this. Norv took over the next year & while the guy is a great offensive mind he’s just not a HC. Id say from 01-10, give or take a few years, theChargers brought more talent in then any team in the league. They’re still one of the best drafting teams, this year not included. I think the above ‘06 Charger team might’ve been actually better then the 18-1 Pats team the following season. Shawne Merriman was as devastating a defensive player as I’ve ever seen in ‘06. No offense to Whiz... You got the feeling these last few years that Rivers was trying to run his own offense a la Manning with Whiz in the Tom Moore role. BudsOilers
Just now, japan said: And with a legit offensive mind. No offense to Whiz... The bigger issue with the Chargers was that their OL was beat up, exposing Rivers and leading him to make more mistakes. Moreso than Whiz IMO. On paper, the Colts OL and system should fit Rivers but in the same respect the fact that the Chargers just let him walk is pretty damn telling on what they think he's got left in the tank.
