Popular Post BudsOilers
Quote “So If I can communicate exactly what I want and they’re able to do that with their own flavor on it, we’re going to be in better shape.” I love the sound of that. For years the Titans wanted Mariota to take ownership of the offense, and while they talked about him doing so we never saw a great deal of evidence he had. Here, on the contrary, we see Tannehill being empowered to take the lead in a Zoom meeting and he’s snatching the leeway to interrupt his coordinator if need be as part of the dialogue. There is nothing passive there, just as there was nothing passive about his play when he took the job, playing a much more forceful style of quarterback than the Titans had seen from Mariota in their ineffective 2-6 start. When we first met Tannehill last spring, he spoke of needing to repress his leadership urges as he became a backup for the first time, though Mike Vrabel said the team would take leadership from anyone. Clearly, starting the offseason as the man at quarterback is a different and more enjoyable position for Tannehill.A backup’s opinion on a receiver’s whereabouts on a play isn’t important if the starter has other thoughts. “As a backup a lot of time… you couldn’t say your opinion, or how you wanted a guy to run the route,” he said. “You kind of had to go with the flow and bite your tongue a lot of the time. “(Now, it’s) really being able to be more clear and more detailed with guys on how we can run things and create more separation.” Justafan, heyitsmeallen, JMoney420, and 9 others 11

Of course, he was do busy frolicking with his BF Quote Other times, however, Grasu steers the topic away from football when the two arrive at their Nashville home, which they share with Mariota’s "girlfriend" wink wink. Everyone should have a friend like Grasu, the kind of buddy who can help someone unwind when the wiring gets a little too tight. Mythos27
I'd say it's substantive in the sense that the piece is explicitly saying that this is something that they wanted Mariota to do but he never really did. That's a new development regarding leadership and I think that's relevant. No one has ever been this direct in calling out Mariota's passivity. There's no way the JRob and Vrabel would have drafted Mariota. People liked to say that his lack of red flags was a red flag which is stupid, but the problem was more his lack of verve. Also, come on he was caught speeding in his Nissan Cube that one time. Owning a Nissan Cube should have been the reddest of flags! Nash
As I recall regarding when Tannehill throws a comeback route , he apparently told the wr he was putting the ball at his knees and to be looking exactly there for it, to allow him to get down after the catch.. tgo

charleytolar
I saw a Timeline episode on NFL Network about Vince Lombardi assuming control of the Redskins. He had them running laps after practice. He had them run again and then again... until the team figured out that Vince wanted Sonny Jurgensen to lead them-- even though he had been running in the middle of the pack. TerryBoats
The team has always needed a veteran QB, with all of the turnover on the offensive coaching staff and being young at every skill position. It's probably nice for him to work with with an OC who welcomes and respects his feedback as opposed to dicks like Gase. I'm sure that he has valuable advice. I was at the final pre-season game in Washington in 1970.. he was not coaching that game as he had been hospitalized. He passed within a day or 2 of that game at age 57 of cancer.. charleytolar
