Ex-Redskins talk about Haynesworth faking an injury in 2009.

Whenever someone talks about NFL players who don't like football, Haynesworth is always the first name I think of.    It's no secret that he didn't like the game.....maybe even hated it.   But he was exceptionally good at it and it paid far more than any other job that was available.

I don't necessarily think it makes Haynesworth a terrible person.  He was just one of millions of people who work jobs they hate.....and most of them make far less money than NFL players.

Has there ever been a bigger FA bust than this dude? Redskins paid him 32M over 2 years. He had one peak contract year and quit. It made Clinton Portis lose his passion for football.

Bust? He may be the smartest businessman the NFL has ever seen. His body was falling apart and he knew it. Get paid. If ever there were a bust, it would be Snyder as an owner.

There is a certain amount of smarts to getting paid and just getting out but it's def slimy and your rep is destroyed

Integrity matters.  This alone doesn't make him horrible, but speaks to his character which is probably awful as well.

Of all the questionable things in football that Haynesworth did, I don't think faking an injury would be the thing that tarnishes his character.

What rep did he really have left? He was already labeled one of the dirtiest players in the league after the head stomping, etc. The league and all the fans knew he was never really motivated by the game itself. He wanted to get paid, he got paid. He knew exactly what he was doing. Winning a ring would probably be the only thing that he could possibly do to raise his rep and that would only be for the fanbase of the team he won it with.

Not particularly caring for football isn't even something that's an offense except for someone overly concerned with someone else's life preferences.

Cleating someone in the face though? Turning into a fat, lazy slob piece of shit after suckering a team into giving you a king's ransom? Yeah, those types things make you a terrible person.

This is why JR values guys who love football.
