I'd love to have him on the team, but only if he truly wants to be here.  This guy over estimated his value in free agency and asked for absurd money.  The entire league rejected him.  He lowered his demands and after a couple teams showed more interest he hasn't expressed an interest one way or another.

The stinks like a bad free agent signing at this point.

I disagree.  It's just a weird time to be a free agent.  My guess is that he would have already made a decision long ago if it weren't for these uncertain times.

Take this for what it’s worth, when i broke the Lewan suspension hours and hours before any media members did - the same guy who slipped that to me just texted me and said that Clowney has already agr

Jurrell Casey died for this.

Not being able to evaluate someone with an injury history is huge. He would already have a deal under normal circumstances, and probably a big one. Do you blame the guy for holding out because he's seen his market value take a hit because of a global pandemic?

Hell, if you look at the timing of the Casey move--that was right before shit REALLY went on lockdown. Both parties are going to wait here--signings for FA are about maximizing value for players and minimizing risk for FO. Makes sense we are in a holding pattern. There is plenty of time for him to sign, and it's a fair call for him to wait and see how much value he can get before doing something like settling for a one year prove it deal. This benefits us I think because those prove it deals often spurn the original team. Maybe we're in a game of chicken, hoping a pass rusher we like falls in the draft, and we plan on re-engaging Clowney after. Who knows?

Would Clowney play on the DL with Simmons and Jones with Landry, Beasley, Evans and Brown at LB, or would Clowney rush standing up with Jones and Simons on the line and Clowney, Beasley, Landry, Evans, Brown all at LB?

either way it would be a sick front 7 that would instantly be a top 3 unit

This is where it all falls for me. I think he would be a waste on the dl for me. I get he can play both but if we spen that kind of money I want a guy who is dominate at one if not both. He is a very good olb who can play good 3-4 de. I dont think the price is worth that.

If chris jones or a player like him was up for grabs I would be all in on trying to sign him.

Clowney just isn't that guy.

Once Clowney's price kept falling he started to become a potential bargain as mentioned by the "Over the Cap" guy......

If you're going to take a risk on a position it's pass rusher/disrupter.

Best care scenario is Simmons takes a big leap in year two and Clowney plays like he did vs SF last year, it was one of the best games by a defensive player all year.

With a front with Jones, Simmons, Clowney and Evans inside the Titans would have the "potential" to have a dominant front. Clowney faced more double teams than any other player in the league last year. That's likely also due to Seattle not having another threat.

The Titans could play more 7 man fronts and stop the run.

The risk is obvious, in and out of the line-up and not consistent enough.

@rns90:  Girlfriend, will you marry me?

Girlfriend:  Maybe, but I have to explore some other options before I give you my final answer.

@rns90:  OMG everyone!!!!!  I am all in on this girl!!!!!

@Titans279:  Bro, I am going to get ordained online so I can announce your wedding because my avatar is a picture of Mike Keith for some weird fucking reason.

@rns90:  Don't you mean "maybe" announce my wedding?  I mean, she hasn't committed yet.

@Bink:  Fuck you rns90.  That was a dumb thing to say.  We are in uncertain times.  Your girlfriend's inability to commit to your relationship should be totally excused because everyone has to stay home for a few weeks.

@Starkiller:  I'm usually somewhat fairly intelligent, but for some reason I can't understand why anyone could question his girlfriend's level of commitment to their relationship.

@tgo:  I can get a two-girl lesbian toy show for the bachelor party for 20% of the cost of that engagement ring you bought her.

@abenjami :  Dump this bitch and move on to the next ho.

@abenjami Don't dump her till after the toy show

There could be a few intriguing prospects available (Davidson, Espenesa, Gross-Matos) who can play edge and Espenesa and Davison also have some versatility to move inside in passing situations.  CB is deep and we can find a CB or two later in the draft.  Probably get a decent RT prospect later as well.  Assuming we don't nab Clowney getting a strong edge player to go along with Landry, Beasley, Correa and Walker not to mention Roberson as a pass rush specialist makes us much better at getting to the passer.  Obviously we could also go IDL if we see someone who can be a disrupter there as well (Blacklock).

Thus I could see us adding to the front 7 with OLB/Edge or IDL and have a number of guys we can scheme with.   Getting a guy like Espenesa or Davidson makes the most sense to me and we already signed Beasley.

I haven't been very high on Epenesa (but at least I can spell his name correctly).  That said, if he falls to us at #29 which appears more and more likely, we may be able to get him to play more consistently that what we saw at Iowa.  If he shows up and plays like he did against USC, he would be a beast.

If Epenesa falls and the Titans pick him I have to hope he’d be a home run as a 3-4 DE for us despite being meh about him in spite of his production due to his workouts.

It would be weird for him to fall to 29 considering how highly he was ranked prior to workouts, but maybe the position change would mitigate concerns about his speed.

I read Paul's article.  It comes across as completely speculative FWIW.  It definitely was not "sources tell me the Titans are interested" but in fact just referencing the ESPN reports.  History also shows that PK doesn't have sources within the Titans.  None of the local guys do.

Not to say he's wrong - I think the Titans do have interest and they absolutely should.  Still, I don't think it carries any weight or changes the situation from what it was.

What?

"The Titans definitely want in on Jadeveon Clowney who they see as a disruptive piece to their front who can help throw them over the top in 2020, a source tells me"

The report is decidedly NOT speculative btw, no clue how you can read that report and say it's speculative.
