Patriot way. Get rid of players a year early rather than a year late. I would have expected a better pick though, maybe a 3rd or 4th. a 7th is kind of insulting.

Wow I’m actually sad to see him go. One of my favorite players. Always gave full effort even when we were the worst team in the league.    I’ll never forget him chasing down a WR (TE?) from beh

Lot of cap ignorance in this thread....

A monkey with a dartboard could do that.  Look at this picture below and tell me which one of them was ecstatic to have VY and which one knew iitwas a terrible pick.

Didn't Fisher want Leinart?

Who knows.  The rumor on the old board at the time was Fisher wanted Cutler and Chou was standing on the war room table screaming for Leinart.

Reese probably did the worst job with the cap in history after the Titans became a contender. The players he extended were just terrible roster management

In fairness teams have learned a lot since then overall but Robinson def gets it

Why is this pinned to the top of every page?

It was a good post and all but not legendary or anything.

Floyd was abysmal for the most part from 2003 onward.  He does get credit for drafting the two OT's in 2005 but that's about it.

He basically did one thing right.  He drafted Mac.  Without that pick, the team never contends for any significant amount of time.

He drafted plenty of the stars on that team and the next contender.

But yes, fortunately Reese drafted McNair over Fisher’s objections. Finding a franchise QB is always the most important thing.

He did fine building the team. His issue was keeping it together.

His issue was he stuck with older declining players and players at non crucial positions. Paying big money to Wycheck, Matthews, Piller, Sanders, Hentrich, NOD. Bruce Matthews was like 37 when he signed a 4 year deal, Wycheck was close to done on his last deal.

Thigpen was injured when he signed him

He put himself in a corner to the point of Rolle, Mason etc.... holding him hostage in their primes

He accidently guaranteed the RFA tenders of Aric Morris and two other scrubs

Terrible job maintaining the roster once they became a SB contender

Let's be honest.  Fisher most likely wanted Gostkowski in that draft.  And taking him at #3 would have been a better move than what Reese did.

Ha ha. Yeah, Reese was responsible for the VY pick....

That was all Bud. Reese was the GM, but Bud picked VY

I seem to recall either Reese or Fisher laying it out in an interview a couple years ago:    Both Reese and Fisher wanted Cutler.   Chow was banging the table for Leinart.

But of course, Bud trumped them all.
