Teams can get out of all contracts after two seasons, this isn't anything special with Tannehill's deal

Yea, but only 10M in dead money strikes me as very team friendly.

japan, you attacked anything any reporte/ analyst said negative about Mariota for 2+ years. It became comical

This is what she said in August.  Nowhere did it say there was a rift.

Now Mike Lombardi said that he had heard the front office was pushing the Mariota to start during the summer and of course they wanted to - they were paying him $ 20.9 M and Tannehill was getting paid $ 2 M.

Quote

According to former Cleveland Browns general manager Michael Lombardi on his “The GM Shuffle” podcast, the move to hand over the reins to Tannehill could have come much sooner than six games into the season.

He claims to have been informed of quarterback controversy earlier in the year, and that the decision to keep Mariota as the starter came down to the opinions of the front office.

“I was told this summer that the coaches really wanted to play Tannehill, but the front office was so endeared that they had to give this Mariota one more look,” he said.

It's also a prime point for a decision - either a restructure, extension, or release.

Plus got a 20 mil signing bonus I think it said. So that over 4 years would add 5 million a year therefore 2020 cap hit would be 22.5 million?

Not sure that I 'attacked anything' on Mariota.  I've said I was wrong about Mariota and explained why I had some hope up until the Baltimore game.  Just like you admitted you were wrong about Henry vs Lewis.  I did and still do refute anyone who says that the choice to start Mariota last year was anything other than an organizational choice which PK verified during the year.

Whether the Brady interest was real or not, the idea of signing him a good idea or a bad idea, it looks like the threat of it that helped push Tannehill's deal down.

The team knew it had options otherwise, even if they did want Tannehill all along.

Honestly, I think the QB market was in some respects media hype.

None of the guys available checked all of the boxes.  Brady and Rivers are old and on the downside.  Tannehill has to fit the system and fair or not 2019 was by far his best year.  Bridgewater - a dink and dunk game manager?  Winston has issues with TO's.  Mariota is a complete bargain buy.

In the end, paying Tannehill Top 10 money is fair and reasonable for both sides.
