With Tannehill signed, what do we do for backup QB?

We would be smart to sign Cam as our backup for this SB push this year. Worst case scenario is we don’t play him and he walks and we get a comp 3 in the future. Best case scenario is that you sign him and a QB gets hurt and we trade him for a premium pick like a third rounder.

but the absolute case is we sign him and don’t need to play him while Tannehill wins a SB for us

Cam is likely going to get one year deal worth over 10million. It is not happening in Tennessee

It makes no sense to talk about guys like Cam Newton or Jameis Winston. We aren’t going to pay them to come here to backup Tannehill.

Looking at what’s left in free agency, they should sign Blake Bortles Or Mike Glennon. Or maybe even draft a QB if there’s one they think can be a backup this year.

I wouldn’t spend a draft pick given our other needs and limited picks. The odds of drafting a decent OT, DL, CB, or RB are a lot higher than getting a decent QB.

Glennon could work I just wonder if he’s too statuesque. Bortles and Smith at least have some movement ability even though they’re not Tannehill’s level.

Back-up QB is way down the list imo, There is a surplus of veteran QBs anyway

Definitely but we have all the time in the world for these discussions now Lol

Trevor Simiean, Brandon Allen and Matt Moore (he's old though but backed up Tannehil in MIA) are also available.  So it's pretty flush, even including the guys we aren't likely to sign like Winston etc.

Why does Mariota suck as a backup? I'm confused about the options considering what he did in four years over Locker, Mettenberger, Young, Hasselbeck, and a guy named Collins who for another small moment was the Ryan Tannehill of 2008??? Sure did a fruity job in Kansas City I guess.

Mariota is about to sign a deal with the jags and you stuck on Mariota, smh,he just sucks, if tannihil gets hurt what can he do?look how bad he plays when he's out there, he's a deer in headlights most of the time, just let it go and move on from this guy

I'm starting to wonder if Cam might be the next guy to retire young. He's pretty beat up and his market's drying up. NE doesn't seem interested. WAS traded for Kyle Allen. I thought BUF might make an overture to backup Josh Allen given the CAR connection, but doesn't seem like anything's happening there. Where does he go? He doesn't strike me as the type of guy who would be happy to be a backup.

I could move better than Glennon. The guy is KFC like moving around. Slow as molasses. I'd go with Bortles. Of course he's not on Tannehill's level, but he's got similar attributes as far as size and mobility goes.

Jrob made nice comments on Woodside. Said he used last year to learn the system inside and out.  I think he's our backup. No sense in wasting money on some retread riding the bench. No hopeful starter is coming here because Tanne is indestructible.
