Can Sanders Win?

Gotta love how people deride Bernie for not preaching "party unity" when that very party is going out of their way to destroy him. They literally ran a dark money-funded ad in Iowa to try and tank his chances. Party unity really means "shut up and do as the moderates tell you"! If you're going to try and destroy the guy then, fine the democratic party has made it clear that impartiality doesn't mean anything to them but at least stop acting like he should show you deference and loyalty if that's the route you're going to take.

It's hard because what we are seeing is a dying party change the rules to hold onto power. The GOP is terrified of how America is changing and they know the writing is on the wall. Their last gasp eff

Here’s to hoping the establishment can squash this populist ruffian virus before our party gets fully infected the way the GOP did with Trump.

Sanders supporters take over Biden field office in Des Moines

Five members of Citizens for Community Improvement Action Fund were arrested Monday after refusing to leave Biden's campaign office. The five Iowa residents were charged with criminal trespassing, "after multiple ignored requests to leave the building," a news release from Des Moines Police said.

About 30 members of the group filed into the office and accused Biden of lying about "Medicare for All." They sang songs, read statements and held signs for about three hours until police officers arrived.

It's the other away around. He wants to tear down the establishment and then bitches about why the DNC doesnt support him. If he was really about what he says he would run as an independent.

If it was a dark money....aka, unknown source....how do we know it was the democratic party that paid for it?

He's talking about the Democratic Majority for Israel PAC that ran an anti Bernie ad campaign last week.

Even Bloomberg knows it’s impossible to win as an independent

He said the party, which implies the DNC is going after Bernie.

The is nothing illegal or inappropriate about a super-pac running ads against a candidate.  It happens all the time.  Nothing new or to see here.

I kind of see Dems as in a horrible spot tbh.

Since Bill Clinton they lost unless they had Obama, a generational political talent with extremely unique cross group appeal, running.

This year no candidate even stands out from the pack. The only reason they have a shot is the similarity unique unpopularity of Trump as a person.

The party was decimated at the state level and only clawed back some power given a generationally divisive foil.

Not sure why they think the status quo works. Bernie could completely fail too but the idea that what the people want is what they’ve mostly rejected the past 20 years seems misguided.

Notice I didn't say the DNC itself took out the ad. I'm calling out all the people who scream party unity while attacking a guy running for their party's nomination. Are you seriously going to imply that the people who ran this ad aren't tied to establishment dems? Even you don't believe that. You know very well the point I'm making.  Again, if you're going to run ads to destroy the guy, go for it, but don't turn around and preach to me about party unity.

Can't speak for Bernie himself but I personally don't care that the party doesn't support him. They don't have to. What I complain about is their attempts to destroy him. Whatever though, keep attacking and it'll keep blowing up in their faces. At least republicans know how to attack effectively.

Since it is dark money, how do you know that the people running the ads are the same ones screaming party unity?  I'm frankly tired of Bernie and some of his fans playing the victim card.....boo hoo, the establishment dems are attacking me.

Hatred of Trump cancels this out. Lots of candidates could beat Trump this year. Kind of like Carter winning because of the fallout of Watergate.

But in a normal election, Dems absolutely need a young, charismatic candidate. Clinton and Obama are perfect examples of what they party doesn’t have this year.
