PFF Predicting the Future for Henry and Tannehill

Recommended Posts

While I love analytics and graphs, this ain't rocket surgery. If you want to go to the playoffs again and have a real chance, you sign Tannehill. If you want to miss the playoffs for the next 3 years, go draft a QB.

We might not find "Kind Henry" in our next draft, but I bet we can find a 1000 yard rusher. At least 10 teams are gonna roll the dice looking for someone at LEAST as good as Mariota and hope he's as good as Tannehill -- and most will fail.

It's crazy to me that Henry was so productive yet only used on 2 downs. I want a 3 down back. If Henry can't be a 3 down back, he ain't worth more than $10 mil per year. When he's on the field, teams just gotta figure out really quickly "Is he a blocker or a runner?" Our 3rd down back it turns into "Is he a receiver or a blocker?"

I have 0 interest in drafting a QB high... maybe a developmental one in the 2nd or 3rd.

I want them to either resign Tannehill or sign Brady. There's not anything in between that I'm overly interested in happening.

Resigning Henry needs to happen either way though.

What about Rivers?  It’s kind of the same thing.

I’m with you.  I want a Super Bowl title or at least for them to contend for one next year.  Drafting a QB high likely takes them out of the running.  I want a vet since this roster is basically Super Bowl ready now.

Rivers would be similar to signing Brady but... and this is a bit of a hard distinction to make... I think if they're going after Brady, they already know he's coming here. I think Vrabel and him have talked about it. So if they let Tannehill walk and sign Brady, they let him walk b/c they knew they were signing Brady.

I don't think they'd have the same sort of inside knowledge for Rivers which means if they let Tannehill walk and sign Rivers, they're gambling more. If they let Tannehill walk, I want it to be because they know who they're replacing him with. I don't want it to be because they know who they want to target to replace him.

That being said, Rivers would be similar to me as Brady.

Couldn’t they tag Tannehill and then if they sign Brady remove the tag?

That'd be a dick move but probably. But again, I think if they're going to sign Brady, they already know he's coming here. I think Vrabel and him have discussed it.

Well it’s a huge risk if they don’t.  They run the risk of losing both.

That's what I'm saying. It's why I'd prefer Brady over Rivers. They're similar but if they sign Brady it's b/c they already know he's coming here imo. If they get Rivers then that probably means they took a risk in letting Tannehill go.

Tagging Tannehill, signing Rivers/Brady and then removing the tag would be a major dick move though imo. Stops him from signing anywhere else as a starter.

A second rounder is high

I would not give Tannehill a deal. Fools gold.

I don't know if I 100% agree but I lean that way.

If Tannehill had taken control of the offense and we'd beaten KC.. then it might be a different discussion. But when he didn't have Henry this year, he struggled. That could just be the offense but I dunno..

Ideally I agree. I'm just giving a them a bit of flexibility. Anything higher than that and I'd be completely against it. A 2nd... and it'd depend on who it was.

I'm not sure if this team needs that many starters that we're depending on 3 rookies.
