Ownership deserves this

I'll put it this way: Fisher got out of VY all that could be gotten and VY helped squeeze the last bit of real success out of Fisher that could be squeezed. And in the end they squeezed each other out of Nashville.

Amy and Ken's kids deserve a ton of credit for jumping in and taking over control from Tommy and the sister.  Since taking control, AAS has:

  • Fired Whisenhunt and Webster
  • Hired Robinson and Mularkey
  • Promoted Robinson to EVP and let him run football operations, including the coaching change to Vrabel
  • Spent money to re-sign core guys (Casey, Lewan, Byard, etc.)
  • Invested in the facilities (Titans HQ and stadium)

AAS lets the football guys run things.  That's refreshing when you compare with other teams.

Looks like the only thing left to accomplish is to fix the concessions. I hear they still suck ass.

He was absolutely on the hot seat in 2006...we started 2-7, and it was coming down to Floyd or Fisher.  Ending the season one win from the playoffs made that choice Fisher.

If Fisher was 'saddled' with VY in 2009, and so amazing at coaching that he could take an idiot and make him serviceable, why couldn't he win a single game with Collins that year?

Your argument doesn't make sense.  The fact is, Fisher was on his way out and Bud forcing him to play VY is what saved his job...twice.  I'm not disagreeing that VY was an awful thrower of the pointy ball, but just that he did seem to rally the team those years, and that can mean a lot.  Fisher sure as fuck wasn't rallying anyone, unless you're referencing the Colts fans when he wore that Manning jersey during the bye week.

Also, don't forget what Goff was with Fisher vs. what he is with McVay.  Fisher has hindered every QB he's been associated with.

2006 was always viewed as a rebuilding year for anyone paying attention.  Fisher wasn't on his way out then.

In 2009, that has more legs but even then that team was not going anywhere with VY at QB and most people knew it.  VY lost the team when he tried to quit at halftime of the playoff game and then went AWOL after the 2008 opener.  Rally the team?  Um no.

I thought they went to a new vendor a couple of years ago. It was pretty high on the list from season ticket holders, iirc.

Yeah didn't we switch to the same people the Falcons use?

Extremely smart and competent moves made at every point along the way since she's been owner-it's not arguable and she is the exact opposite of her dad.  He taught her everything not to do.

I don't know if Bud gets in because he wasn't likable and meddled too much.  Still, he did help form the AFL and kept it afloat.  He personally covered Jets operating expenses and traded the overall #1 pick to NY so they could draft Namath for the betterment of the league.  Also was a pioneer in terms of black QB's - signed Moon to the largest FA deal at the time from Canada and McNair was the highest drafted black QB at the time.

Amy seems to be the anti-Bud so far. Spends without meddling. Bud was the complete opposite. Meddled without spending. Facilities rotting from the core...

Sigh...you're wrong. Bud spent plenty of money. Stop repeating that narrative.

He did in the late 80's/early 90's before the salary cap when they were perennial playoff teams.  But Bud was notoriously cheap at times with players and the facilities in Houston were substandard at the end.

Amy hasn't had a losing season while going 3-1 in the playoffs so far.  Considering what she took over, that's pretty impressive.

Read somewhere today that if the team wins on Sunday, they'll be 9-7 in the post-season since becoming the Titans.

He signed off a couple player/coach contracts here and there, but never invested in the infrastructure.

This was evident because one of the first things Amy did was renovate HQ.

That's correct.

Oilers (9-13)

1960 - 1969:  2-3; 2-1 in the AFL title games pre-SB era; 0-1 in AFCC (1967)

1978 - 1980:  4-3; 0-2 in AFCC

1987 - 1993:  3-7; no AFCC (made playoffs 7 straight years)

Titans Era (8-7)

1999 - 2003: 5-4; 1-1 in AFCC

2007 -  2008: 0-2

2017: 1-1

2019: 2-0 (and counting.....)
