I’m assuming he’s mad at the agent. Paul probably got a hint the titans were gonna sign this kicker so Paul rung up the agent and agent denied. So Paul has no story.

The league average the past few seasons for PAT's has been around 94%.

You know your teams kicking has been bad when you are posting practice video footage from reddit of a kicker the team has signed in December. Nice leg though.

New kicker has some range and isn't old like Succop.  And they can actually try FG's now from 45+ out now.  And his KO resulted in touchbacks 68% of the time.  Upgrade over Santoso and Succop, granted a veeeeerrry low bar to pass there.

Would like to know what his range is? Is he good from 50 plus?

Longest fg is 51 yards 1/2 from 50+

5/7 from 40-49 yards.

11/11 from 20-39 yards.

So at first glance, better than Santos and maybe the same as Parkey?

I think I read Parkeys best may have been a few more yards, but this guy sounds pretty decent. Obviously better than the alternative.

Is he going to be kicking FGs and PATs or just the kickoff specialist like Santoso?

I would like for them to just make him the PK.  But knowing them, they'll trot out Succop for PAT and short FG and Joseph for everything else.

Maybe this guy can be a long-term solution...maybe he’s just a short-term band-aid.

Either way, he’ll be a dramatic upgrade over the current situation.

Not to mention how exciting it is for him to go from a practice squad to a winning team with a shot at the playoffs.

I would expect him to give it his best.

People forget that Parkey was a pretty good kicker by most marks before his Bears fiasco. However, I’m happy with the Joseph signing. If you asked me who I would want to make a kick with the season on the line, I’d much rather have Joseph than Parkey just due to Parkey’s history.

I always have thought that the majority of kicking is mental anyway. The kickers that circulate on and off of NFL teams likely all have the ability to knock down almost 100% of their <45 yarders if they are on an empty practice field (I would not say that Succop could do this off his injury). It’s just a matter of having the confidence to do it in game. Look at Roberto Aguayo for example. Guy had objectively the best pedigree of any kicker coming out since Sebas. Missed a few kick that got to his head and boom he’s out of the league.

IMO, the mental part is a bit overrated.  The kickers get way too much blame placed upon them and people don't realize how important all the other factors are (i.e. snap, hold, blocking, piece of turf being kicked from, the timing of it all, etc.).
