The Elephant in the Room

No one wants to talk about this or even think about it, but in the NFL injuries happen. In another thread we were talking about Smith limiting Tanne on passing. I sincerely wonder if he is doing this intentionally should Tanne get hurt and Mariota has to play. It's the only reason I can come up with. With his accuracy and deep ball he could throw for 400 a game. With Woodside mysteriously missing it's the only plausible answer I can come up with, but all speculations are welcome.

The OL has not been very good on pass protection. Probably don’t want QB killed by throwing the ball all the time. I would like to see more roll outs away from pressure. He seems to be sacked more in the pocket. But 17 has played well.

This is they're offensive philosophy right now-cant complain too hard though because its working.  It's just a little too conservative for my liking-would like to see pa on first down a little more.  You wanna see Tanne go for 400 every week, the injury that would have to happen is to DH.

Where would you get this idea? They're running a balanced offense because that's good. Ain't nobody thinking about whether Mariota will have to play or not. Jesus H

What planet did you buy that weed from?

A good coach/gm always has to consider that possibility. Do you not believe in being prepared or are you a "hope for the best" kind of guy?

The offense is fine and the team is built specifically to play this style of offense of football despite what the fantasy football fan base wants. Since Tannehill  was made the starter, the Titans offense is scoring 28.2 points a game avd they went from 19th to 1st in red zone efficiency.

Tannehill  now has the top passer rating for qualified pastors in the league. They lead the league and explosive runs an explosive pass plays in this time.  Not coincidently, Henry has also seen an uptick in his production during this time.

The important metrics are all fine and this is how they are going to play.

They're not gonna develop a gameplan for one QB "just in case" the backup needs to play. They're not gonna run a team philosophy on the basis of injury. If an injury occurs, they adjust the plan based on personnel. There's no reason for Tannehill to be throwing for 400 yds.

We have a solid run game. Run game helps soften the secondary, takes pressure off the oline.

I mean, imagine the otherside of your idea. Titans are throwing so much because they know if they run Henry for 200+ yards per game that he might get injured and they would have to rely on Lewis who sucks.

IMO,  the low pitch counts are simply a byproduct of the run-oriented game planning and playcalling....which are a reflection of the roster and the team identity Vrabel has established.

Madden and fantasy football have ruined an entire generation of fans. If it's not a 300+ , 3 passing TD per game offense, it somehow sucks.
