If Tannehill Had Started Since Week 1...

It does if you got a promotion and the ability to hire and fire coaches by convincing the owner that the HC was not maximizing Mariota’s potential.

Robinson also wanted Henry to be the every down back, something Mularkey fought.

people cling to AAS wanting Mariota protected as a rookie as the evidence for meddling.  Well Whiz was getting him destroyed.  Add that Robinson got the job in large part by outlining a plan to build around said QB.

Robinson had plenty of motive to play Mariota early on.  By year 5, the GM has skin in this game even though he didn’t draft him.  If Mariota were to have played well, the QB situation and the onus on him solving it largely goes away.

This all makes some sense as far as a possible scenario, but does JR really have the ability to dictate that? I would have assumed depth chart stops at Vrabel.

Exactly.......

This explains the reason they signed Humphries and made the base offense 3 WRs on the depth chart. On paper Robinson is putting together a team to highlight a passing QB.

The coaches on the other hand are using heavy sets, running and hiding MM

It points directly to Robinson imo

I haven't been as angry about a football decision by the team in a long time. They sabotaged this season over this decision and it was a clear cut decision.

If I'm the owner(assuming I didn't make the retarded decision) I'm calling someone on the carpet and asking it to be explained to me. It's one thing for fans to not know Mariota can't play but for the football people to not know is gross negligence.

My suspicion is it's Robinson and I'd guess he possibly used Mariota as an excuse to fire Mularkey to AAS. Me and @BudAdams have posted this idea a few times.

It's honestly a fireable offense imo

As preseason unfolded and the national reports came out it was really a QB battle I actually thought we might hear Tanny was the starter in week 1 because it was so obvious he was so much better than MM.

20% chance!

Robinson won a power struggle and got a promotion. Make no mistake about who runs this team, it's clear cut Robinson. Vrabel has even mentioned in pressers that he would have to talk with Robinson about stuff.

He fought with Mularkey over this type of stuff.

One takeaway from watching the last two games with Tannehill behind center is that there is an extremely likely chance that we see Mariota again at QB with the hits Tannehill is taking.

That was based on thinking just the fans were idiots and not the people actually running the team as well.

The funniest part is the fact they wanted Lewan to start a few games with Mariota before they benched him. WTF is the reasoning behind that? How are you not able to judge Mariota separately from the rest of the team?

Seemed obvious that they were going to give him at least 4 games. They won 2 of the first 3 so his play was extended too long. AAS might be responsible, directly or indirectly, but it is what it is. This plan was probably the determination that JRob, AAS and Vrabel made together in the offseason.

If this is the case, then even if ownership dictated something like this for 6 weeks, going along with it for that long is almost as bad as forcing it. Complicit in the action etc. If JRob can't get his way on the most important position in all sports for 6 weeks, then he can't have been too against the idea.

You realize you've been wrong about everything right?

Not Mularkey. You aren’t winning that one. I was wrong about Mariota but that’s about it.

I already did

We'll see how Vrabel does in year two with Mariota and the final record and playoffs.

Like I said, I understand this kind of retarded logic from a fan. I expected more from the staff. Why are you giving Mariota anything? Have a QB battle and determine a winner, which would obv be Tanny.

Now you're on the AAS might be responsible train after laughing at it earlier.... too funny

This doesn't make any sense. Of course jrob was going to tell AAS what she wanted to hear with regards to Mariota. He was interviewing for a position at the pinnicle of his profession. In reality its further proof AAS is the one that mandated Mariota play. Its not just about firing Whiz. It's about all decisions made over the course of the last 4 years. The Ace in the hole is the fact Jrob clearly built the offense to be passing focused and you don't do that if you are 100% behind Mariota.

The more likely scenario is that both Mularkey and Vrabel were focused on one game at a time and knew running heavy sets with a limited passer was the best route to win a game. MUlarkey flat out wanted Mariota to run and by Slash 2.0. Vrabel is a meathead who believes running QBs are harder to defend, a common misperception defensive coaches have. Out of AAS, jrob, and vrabel, Jrob is the least culpable in my opinion.

It doesn't make sense period.

If the last part is true then you don't possibly tank an entire season vs having a QB battle. Start Tannehill right away and utilize the weapons.
