Haynesworth Jr.

took haynesworth 4-5 years to start looking good.

built a little different as well. hard to believe AH was 2"  taller and 40 lbs heavier.

I look forward to the next game with Indy.  They have a very strong OL and I think he was drafted to combat that.

What excites me the most is that his NFL tape from today looks just like what he did in college. All that changed was the colors of the uniforms. He's still a grown ass man out there. You're gonna see a lot of gifs full of pure asswhoop over the course of the week.

So I only just now saw the game. DAMN. After his first few plays, Chargers were double teaming him, and he was still holding the line. It was freeing other guys up. This was his FIRST game. Just a massive debut.

Ive read somewhere this dude is freakish strong.

He looks like the god damn hulk...

He seriously reminds me of Aaron Donald, but I think he's bigger. If he can work on his explosiveness, he might be legit all pro (Donald is super explosive) . Serious man crush on that dude.

I purposely looked for him on every play and he was so impressive. He was far more explosive than I was expecting to be honest. Give that guy an offseason with Chuck Smith who took AH's game to the next level... Scary to be honest.

I see the Donald comparisons, I guess. But to me he's closer to Suh. He's just so strong. I don't think he's as quick as Donald. They have different builds. But Simmons looked like a man among boys out there. He made OL look silly. Even when they double teamed him, he was just standing there, occupying two blockers. Pretty amazing debut.

Simmons played 21 of the 64 defensive snaps and 5 ST snaps.

Within those 21 snaps he tallied 4 tackles (2 for a loss), 1 QB hit, and 1 sack. And that's just the statistical production. Doesn't account for how his presence was impactful for Casey, Landry, Evans, etc. All considering he's 8 months removed from an ACL tear and missing all of training camp, preseason, and nearly half the season.

Who the fuck did we draft?

I been saying this about our defensive line for a while now.  We just haven't had a physically imposing defensive lineman since AH.  Finally we have a defensive line that can just rag doll the guy in front of him.  Just him being of the field is going to affect the rest of the defense.

Taken from NFL.com scouting page:

..... but the physical tools and immense upside outweigh those concerns. Simmons has All-Pro potential and should become an early starter and star.

Strengths

Looks the part off the bus with athletic, chiseled frame

Rare combination of power and movement traits

Played every alignment and shade along the interior

Quick-twitch snap reaction

Plays under opponents' pads with a powerful, well-placed punch

Impressive core strength and body control

Possesses power to split double teams

Slide-and-swim winner when working the gaps

Ability to leverage and squeeze the running lane

Agility for lateral slide and pursuit

Early explosiveness can generate a pocket charge down the middle

Has athletic ability to find more edges as a rusher

Flashes huge power in his hump move

Sweet feet when unleashed on twists

Natural gait with plus speed in pursuit chase around the field

I just re-watched the game and holy shit.

He was so much more impressive than I even saw on first glance.

He also played a lot more than I expected.  His instincts are elite.  You see him adjust on the sack, but there is also a screen play he sniffs out in the 3rd quarter and he has really good lateral movement adjusting to running plays.

But his raw strength, technique and get off are something else.  He regularly blew up his opponent and when him and Casey were together they were incredibly disruptive.

He was very close to the best defender on the field today (either side).

I don’t think it is hyperbole to say that he has potential to be the best player on the Titans and one of the best D-linemen in the game by next season.

He was amazing. He won't get 10 sacks a year so fans will bitch about him but if you like and understand DL play, you will enjoy watching Simmons play.
