Good Marcus vs Bad Marcus

Recommended Posts

He had so much opportunity to head to the right side and make the pass to Brown even easier. As soon as hes about to plant his feet he should be feeling the collapse and escaping out to the right. If he isn't prepared to let it fly before the WRs cut like last time anyway. Perplexing this is the same QB as the TD. Taking the sack is horrible horrible QB play. And this was the one some were blaming on the OL, lol.

The play against the Falcons has accuracy, anticipation and timing. The play against the Bills just cannot be explained. Did he have a concussion? Because there is no excuse for holding the ball. Especially when he's seen that coverage before and executed the play to perfection.

Inconsistent QB play week to week.  Inconsistent team week to week.

Maybe those two are related?

What else is inconsistent?  Defense shows up each week.  The skill players shine when given the opportunity. Henry has had 75 yards in all but one game, same with TDs.  Special teams  had some really rough moments in two of the losses, but we're looking at the bigger picture and the past when that wasn't really an issue.  The team literally will go as far as he can take him this year, which is proving to be a big problem thus far.

Humphries had a fair catch at the 10 with no one near him. He certainly could have helped out field position with even 10 yards.

This held up:  https://ftw.usatoday.com/2017/06/nfl-titans-marcus-mariota-2017-season-top-10-quarterback-eric-decker

Quote

Mariota was at his best in 2016 when his reads were at their most simplistic. He’s not yet at the point where he can get through three or four progressions in a timely matter, but give him an either/or decision, and Mariota will make the right decision almost every time — even if it does take him a beat or two longer than you’d like.

Fortunately for Mariota, that slight lack of anticipation — which is a weakness nearly every young quarterback has to deal with — is mitigated by his offensive line. But when that line falters — which rarely happens, as we’ve already pointed out — Mariota’s game falls off a cliff. Per Football Outsiders, his DVOA drops from 61.3%, which ranks fifth-best in the league, down to -72.4%, which ranks 22nd in the league.

The biggest area of improvement for Mariota is how he physically reacts to pressure. More often than not, he’ll drop his eyes in a tight pocket…

Or his mechanics will go to hell, and the result is odd passes like this Jordan-esque fadeaway, which somehow was completed thanks to an offensive pass interference on Walker. It may have been intercepted if not for the pick by his tight end…

But he has, on occasion, shown a willingness to stand tall and take a hit. We just need to see this more consistently…

I think he’s terrified of getting hurt again.  Any pressure at all and he goes full on turtle shell protection mode.  This is why he won’t just let it rip knowing he’s going to take a shot, which QBs do every week.  Nothing is going to change.  We’ll be somewhere around 6-9 wins depending on how many good or bad bounces we have in games.  Season is boring and not worth investing any time in. Up and down, up and down, to 8-8 we go.  This isn’t a playoff team with this guy at QB.

He's thinking of being a retired 20 something year old living legend millionaire in his element in Hawaii.  Can't blame him.  But get him the fuck off the field.

LOL,...

Eric Decker, the savior of the Titans' franchise!

Ya can't make this stuff up folks.

Dude's hands were chiseled out of solid granite half the time.

Another example of the Titan's producing inconsistency.

More drops than a paratrooper.
