Marcus Mariota - week 5

Recommended Posts

Sad no responses yet.

Mariota wasn't bad but he wasn't good either. After he led Davis up the field into triple coverage in the 1st half he didn't risk another throw the rest of the game. he's so risk adverse it's crazy.

Watched the first half.  The drop by Humphries was quite good by Mariota.  Hit Davis as he was coming out of his break later.  But he dropped his eyes on the first sack when he could have hit either Davis or Brown coming out of their breaks and he rusher probably wouldn't have bothered him with a slight adjustment to his platform, made a dumb decision to cut inside on the 3rd sack when he was outrunning the rusher to the outside and had another receiver breaking open on his route, then didn't pull the trigger to throw the ball to a WIDE OPEN receiver he was staring at on the 1 yard desperation heave to avoid the sack.

You don't have to be Russell Wilson, but you better be able to take the plays that are there and be able to overcome at least a bit of adversity.  If not, the offense doesn't stand a chance against a good defense.

Oh fuck.

You punkass bitches have been complaining for 2 years that he doesn't throw 50/50 balls or just thrown one up for his receiver to go get.

So he does,...  The fact is, the receiver was incapable of winning the catch.

And now you want to slam on him for doing that very thing.

This is exactly what makes you assholes so devoid of credibility.

I'll guarantee if you watched the coaches grading him and knew all the play calls he was bad.

Watch his first sack slowly. His first read was Brown, Brown was no where near being close to finishing his route. As he moves on to his second read Conklin is getting beat. Forcing him to start scrambling left, which Saffold? got beat allowing his man to get ahold of Mariota's facemask taking him down for the sack. I honestly don't know what you guys expect when your right handed QB, RT is getting beat and he has pressure up the middle right in his face.

Conklin is not getting beat.  The edge rusher is taking an elongated path to the QB, with the DC's hope that Mariota overreacts when he's out of his POV.  Which he does.

Elongated path is a nice way to say Conklin allowed to much penetration.

I just expect him to make plays that contribute to wins consistently, resulting in winning more winnable games than not. No D is afraid of MM in any shape or form, hes ineffectual. If it takes so much for him to be effective then just draft some rookie, spend his money elsewhere, and you'd probably get the same result if not better.

Taking sacks isn't the end of the world if he makes up for it elsewhere. Big Ben was like this. Sometimes he even turns what looks like bad plays by the OL into big gains. I can't remember the last time MM did this.

So much penetration.  Being pushed backwards 10 yards behind the LOS.

That's the problem with posters like you. You take one freeze frame to try a prove a point. Not even half a second later.
