Conklin just doesn't have the athleticism or quickness to play tackle. Tbh he looks like what would happen if you took a great guard and made him play tackle.

Put Kelly on the right until we can draft another tackle.

Bench Saffold.

Lewan Conklin Jones Davis Kelly

If we moved Conklin inside (they won't) they probably move him to RG anyway and essentially replace Davis with Kelly.  Saffold needs to shoot up with some testosterone (he won't get caught because that would just bring his levels to normal).

At this point, I'd defintely be open to switching Kelly with Conk.

We knew RG would be an issue. LG was the last position I was worried about. It’s kind of amazing that the two best OL so far this season have been Kelly and Jones.

Mariota has neither the pocket presence or quickness to overcome OL who fail to execute their assignments.

There's little to believe Tannehill would be any better, as Tannehill and Mariota were tied for the highest sack rate (11.3%) among all QBs in 2018.

Players have to be expected to do their jobs and execute their assignments instead of hoping for some Super QB to constantly bail everyone out waving a magic wand.

It’s pretty damning that Vrabel vowed full support of Keith Carter today. He essentially blamed the issues on guys missing assignments. The coach is ultimately responsible for the team they put on the field. With the amount invested in this OLine I think it’s doubly true. Carter needs to go ASAP

We fired Mularkey for not firing his friend. At what point does JRob put the pressure on Vrabel to do the same

I have a feeling the OL will get it together. There’s too many good players not to. Sometimes it takes a few games to  get cohesive.

It doesn’t matter if the QB can’t make a play though....

And what does it mean for an olineman to play well?

How long do they have to block?

If a lineman can never let a player through does that mean a QB should never throw a bad pass?

Let's do the math:

- If Mariota gets sacked at a 11% rate and barely dodges a rusher.

- And you have five Offensive Lineman.

- What are the odds that every one of those lineman will not allow a rusher or blitzer next to the QB's ability to dodge that rusher should he get through?

Five individuals to make no mistake, versus one who needs to avoid that mistake.

You're asking a lot.

Defenses will get through, or why even bother playing defense? The question is what will the QB do when the defender does get through.

I'd like to see Mariota make something happen just once. Wouldn't you?

No, no"no", nononono. Why do people still think a 6'5 plus guy would make a good gaurd?

You ever hear of a guy named Bruce Matthews? 65 305

Conklin 65 308.
