TerryBoats
Smith simply had to build on what was established last year, which was Henry as a bell cow and Davis as a #1. Instead, he held true to his dumb statement that LaFluer needed to learn a thing or two from him, implemented his vision, and now we have this piece of shit offense. We look like NE on defense, and the Browns on offense. Edited November 5, 2019 by abc2330
AussieTitanFan08
The cold harsh facts are last year the team averaged 19.4pts a game, then added Humphries/Brown/Saffold had Conklin/Walker/Smith return from injury and are averaging 18.7pts a game after 9 games which is a decent sample size. There can't be any questions about having enough offensive weapons in 2019. When the playing talent level increases but the results are similar the focus should certainly start shifting towards coaching. I will add that the 3 games with Tannehill at QB have resulted in scoring averaging 23.3pts a game, improved but would still place the Titans 16th in scoring offense in the NFL, which is basically the definition of average. Regarding Humphries there were multiple teams fighting for him in FA, the Titans certainly weren't alone in valuing his talents.

I was suggesting that coaching/scheme/game plan was an issue in not fully utilizing the improved offensive weapons added last offseason, @BudAdams was alluding to the fact the added offensive weapons might be overrated. He showed promise his rookie year. Year 2 he looked better. Year 3 he was worae but not hopeless.

Hump is in a low passing offense and is only now being thrown 2. And saffold is a career zone blocker and we run some weird mixed scheme. That is the problem. Nash
Agree we have some weird mixed scheme.. but isn’t that dictated by running power sometimes with Henry?? The easy answer is to focus on a Shannahan system, and get a running back that fits it..

I don't fault them for still having some hope for Mariota but not having an open competition was arrogant and stupid. A guy who had done as little as Mariota should never just be handed a starting job. TNTitans
