AussieTitanFan08
Time to start the yearly draft order thread after the first quarter of the season is in the books, this shouldn't be taken as an indication that the Titans season is over more a look at how the draft order is starting to take shape, especially keeping an eye on the QB needy teams that are ahead of us in the Draft Order. 2020 NFL Draft Order Post Week 4 1. Dolphins 2. Bengals 3. Redskins 4. Denver 5. Jets 6. Cardinals 7. Dolphins (from Steelers) 8. Falcons 9. Jags 10. Colts 11. Ravens 12. Giants 13. Raiders 14. Eagles 15. Titans 16. Panthers 17. Bucs 18. Vikings 19. Lions 20. Seahawks 21. Browns 22. Chargers 23. Miami (from Texans) 24. Cowboys 25. Packers 26. Bills 27. Rams 28. Raiders (from Bears) 29. Saints 30. Patriots 31. 49ers 32. AussieTitanFan08
Hard to believe that the Redskins/Bengals who are actually still trying to win might be almost as bad as the Dolphins who are clearly tanking for the #1 overall pick. rns90
Going by just the top half of the order: Dolphins/Bengals/Denver/Colts/Raiders all need QB's to some varying degree. Colts and Denver need long term answers. Not sure about the Vegas bound Raiders, but if they cut Carr they would need one. Dolphins and Bengals obviously will be taking qb's. The Vikings/Panthers/Chargers are other teams to watch in the QB sweepstakes, couldn't totally rule them out of drafting a QB this time around. Tomachek
You see guys like Kyle Allen and Gardner Minshew having success in the NFL, I wonder if JRob has his eyes on a mid to late round guy. We looked at a ton of late round to UDF QBs last year.

Might be a bit early to crown guys like Minshew/Allen wait till defensive coordinators get enough film on them and see how they go then, no doubt they have both shown early promise though. Hitting on a late round QB is the unicorn of NFL scouting.

Hitting on a late round QB is the unicorn of NFL scouting. They were just recent examples. Look around the league at whose starting Jimmy G, Brisset, Dalton, Carr, Rudolph, Allen, Minshew, Cousins, Dax (might be more, going off the top of my head). All were had after the first round. Granted none are elite, but majority are playing decent football. Then you have your true unicorns in Tom Brady and Drew Brees.

Jimmy G, Dalton, Carr were all 2nd round picks Brissett, Rudolph were all 3rd round picks Dak, Cousins, Allen, Minshew were day 3 or undrafted guys. Dak is the only guy out of that lot with a playoff win so far.

Since 2011 when Dalton was drafted there have been 76 QBs drafted in the 2nd thru 7th rounds. By my count 9 of them are starting right now. Minshew, Rudolph, Brissett, Prescott, Dalton, Carr, Garoppolo, Wilson, and Cousins. Siemian just got benched. Foles was starting before he got hurt. Even if you count all of them it's 11/76 = 14.4%. That's not a high success rate. I wouldn't even count on guys like Rudolph or Minshew being long term starters yet. I think young 2+ rounders guys tend to get chances like this precisely due to injury. Most of them don't become long term starters (Tyrod Taylor, Zach Mettenberger, AJ McCarron, Mike Glennon, Brock Osweiler, Geno Smith are guys who got decent amount of playing time but never became reliable starters). I would not be surprised if Rudolph and Minshew (even Brissett) end up like them. Guys who got shots, played pretty well at times but ultimately are not NFL starters. Long way to say that drafting a guy in the later rounds you are mostly hoping for a developmental backup who can start for you in a pinch but not long term. There are not many diamonds in the rough. AussieTitanFan08
2020 NFL Draft Order after Week 5. Have to wonder if the Redskins would pull a Cardinals and take another first round QB if they found themselves with the number 1 pick at the end of the year. headhunter
I think we'll be picking in the top ten by the end of the season.
AussieTitanFan08
Only positive after today's loss to the Broncos as we inch a little closer to a top 10 pick in the 2020 Draft. As things stand for the Titans at the end of week 6 we would hold pick #11 in the 2020 Draft, will post the entire order after MNF, that game doesn't affect where we are slotted. As mentioned before our tougher strength of schedule is going to be a problem as we hunt a QBOTF, example this week the Jags have the same record as us but would hypothetically hold #6 due to their easier SOS. h4t
QB needy teams that will be drafting ahead of us—Dolphins, Bengals, Falcons, ?Redskins. We may need to trade up, possibly with Jets, to get a good QB. If Tannehill does well, we will probably be in 15 range.
