Of course Lewan will start at LT immediately.

OT is the most valued OL spot, because they go against the defense's best pass rushers, generally. They are thus the most athletic and nimble of the OL, again in general.

For some reason, this leads some fans to believe that if you can play OT, you can play anywhere on the line. But that's just not true. It's a different skill set. We can't just move Kelly to guard. It's not his position. Could he do it in a pinch? Maybe. But there are assignments he'd had to learn, and he's just not as strong as Davis (or Pamphile...or, probably Douglas). Kelly is an OT. That's his job. He's our backup OT, not our starting OG.

Reminds me of Norm Chow and his philosophy that WRs are interchangeable. We saw how well that worked out...

Because practice isn't like a real game. Can't simulate game conditions. Going to be in the 80s. I bet he tires.

So you think OLinemen routinely get breathers in week 1 in hot weather after not playing all offseason???

Get real, Lewan is playing every offensive snap barring injury...

Didn’t realise Jarrett was ranked so highly. Defo schooled Davis a few times but will be a good experience for him.

I will say though when Davis managed to stop the initial rush and get his anchor he looked like an immovable object

Just watched the game again. Davis looked ok but man he’s a long way away still. He got swim moved on to his knees like three times by Jarrett. A better interior D-lineman would have a field day.

Yeah, He had a coupe of rough run blocking reps. He got swum as you said and his man made the tackle on multiple runs including one for a loss. That said, Henry had some of his better runs running right off of Davis's ass so hopefully as he gains more experience and comfort out there we'll see less of a mixed bag. He was a stud in pass pro though. Douglas was getting bulldozed into the backfield.

Douglas looked like Jonnu Smith before he got his shit together last year.
