Rep. Justin Amash (I-Mich.) on Wednesday ripped his former GOP colleagues, telling an elevator full of reporters and Republican lawmakers that allies of President Trump are acting as if Americans are "stupid."

Amash reportedly told HuffPost while in a House elevator filled with Republicans that the president's allies in the House "talk about it like we’re all stupid," referring to the impeachment process after U.S. Ambassador to the European Union Gordon Sondland testified before the House Intelligence Committee.

“Sondland testified to a quid pro quo. He testified to significant details and facts. He testified that he thought it was wrong. So the inference is obvious that the president was withholding security assistance," Amash said, referring to the White House's decision to withhold security assistance to Ukraine while the president pushed the country's leader to open a criminal investigation into former Vice President Joe Biden.

"They talk about it like we’re all stupid, like we can’t see what’s going on," Amash said, adding, "If this were any grand jury proceeding, it would be obvious to everyone."

The sole Republican (ex-communicated) with a conscious left who is running for re-election.

Why isn't more being made of Trump trying to cover his tracks with his after-the-fact phone call in which he says "I WANT NO QUID PRO QUO" -- a phrase he only learned after the whistle blower came for

I feel so much better knowing the man who paid 140k to a porn star before the 2016 election to buy her silence, is looking into possible corruption of another candidate.

The current Republicans in Congress are straight cowards.

It is really great going back to the posts from the beginning of the day where Sondoland's opening statement said there was a quid pro quo. You lefties were saying game over.

Then Sondaland was cross examined. Oh, damn, it was just his PRESUMPTION that there was a quid pro quo and that everyone was in the loop. In fact, the only time quid pro quo came from Trumps lips was when he said NO QUID PRO QUO. And that wasnt in his opening statement.

It's going to be interesting to see how many of those Dems in Trump districts vote for impeachment.

You’re the last Republican I consider responding to at this point. The implication was very clear. He thought it was a quid pro quo. He had extensive dealings with the president, Giuliani, the Ukrainians, and the State Department. His judgement matters. Just because the president did not explicitly say to him ‘it’s a quid pro quo’ (lol is that the new standard?) doesn’t mean he’s even close to wrong. It follows the exact line of all the other testimony.

His testimony leads to the fact Giuliani, Pence, and Pompeo need to be deposed and placed under oath.

To be fair a vast majority of the population is stupid.

When hearsay becomes more important than facts to you, you should probably stop posting.

Even worse: they think they’re right no matter how far they have to retreat.

It honestly just makes it more hilarious. They were all high and mighty but since that blue wave hit they've been taking L after L. It's entertaining to watch them strut around as if they can do anything about Trump's impeachment. The freak outs when Trump loses in 2020 will be screenshot worthy because I expect CTF levels of melt-downs.

So on a phone call after he knew he was being investigated for a previous call, Trump goes out of his way to make a statement asserting his innocence when he wasn't even being asked to. Congratulations, your boy finally figured out that presidential calls are monitored.

The evidence lies primarily in the fact Sonland said he has evidence of a Quid Pro Quo for a presidential meeting as well as inductive reasoning inside of his capacity that it was also tied to the aid, all of which was all to help Trump Politically.

I agree it isn’t a smoking gun. What it is is the necessary evidence to force the top people to testify. There is simply no reason Pompeo and Giuliani should not be put under oath. They won’t of course, but anyone who can’t use logic to understand the line is pretty much stupid.

Where in his testimony did Sondoland show he had evidence of the quid pro quo? I will help you. Nowhere.

He presumed it. It was his opinion.

There is no smoking gun in anyone's testimony.  Just policy differences and tactical differences.

Like I posted before. It will be interesting to see how the Dems in the Trump districts vote on impeachment.  If Nancy can't get to 218, the Dems are screwed.

It’s simply amazing how stupid these people are. Sonland couldn’t link the funds to the Quid Pro Quo but did so with the presidential meeting. He said the funds were involved when he actually stopped and used logic. Everyone else who has testified has said the same. Can you idiots not agree that Pompeo and Giuliani need to testify? Also, could you not see how ridiculous it is that Sondland could not even access his own records? If not, well then know you’ve entered the realm of not thinking for yourself whatsoever.
