Why isn't more being made of Trump trying to cover his tracks with his after-the-fact phone call in which he says "I WANT NO QUID PRO QUO" -- a phrase he only learned after the whistle blower came for

I feel so much better knowing the man who paid 140k to a porn star before the 2016 election to buy her silence, is looking into possible corruption of another candidate.

The current Republicans in Congress are straight cowards.

Let me ask the question again. If it is so obvious that Trump committed high crimes why did Adam Shitt have to misrepresent what Trump actually said in that phone call? The transcript is public it is all over the internet. Why not just use that then?

Do mafia Dons go to prison based on somebody else's bullshit version of something they said? No they go to prison based on what they actually said. If a prosecutor was to miss quote a suspect in a trial what would happen to them?

Schift was stupid for taking  narrative liberty with the transcript and he should be called out for it. It only hurts his credibility but lets get back to what matters. a President using his office for personal or political gain and the subsequent cover up by his confidents. Why did they hide it if they truly felt the line wasn't crossed? I don't expect you answer honestly.

Trump is going to further exacerbate his legal and political problems going after the whistleblower and their sources.

Then you not only have the crime at hand, but also the cover up and then retaliation against a legally protected whistleblower.

As prez, Trump is the lead of the federal court system and absolutely must maintain some semblance of impartiality to legal proceedings and processes.  For him to publicly and shamelessly go after a protected whistleblower who has been confirmed to have acted in good faith is a rejection to execute his duties, and potentially creates an unprecedented judicial situation.  Often you hear Trump compared to Nixon, but Nixon would never do anything like this as he respected the democratic institutions reinforced by the executive branch that Trump just casts aside in his petty emo rages.  The guy is dangerously unstable, amoral and shortsighted -- completely out of his depth in a real leadership role.

The more conservatives dig in on this, the more laughable it becomes.  They have egg all over their face but it somehow doesn't matter.  Facts don't matter.  Only who plays for what team.

They have no argument to defend Trump for what he did. They attack Schiff for parodying the “transcript” instead of quoting it verbatim (despite the fact it isn’t the actual word for word call transcript, which is still locked away on a classified system). They attack the whistleblower for not having a 1st hand account even though the accusations have all been shown to be true. They attack the Dems for announcing hearings before the “transcript” was released even though Trump himself had already admitted publicly to the crime. They attack Biden even though it’s unrelated to Trump's crimes and the fact that there was no active investigation into the company his son was on the board of at the time.

The GOP only knows how to attack, but they have nothing to work with other than spin.

Nixon was corrupt, too, but he was way smarter than Trump. Trump is a moron. The only mistake Nixon made was in recording everything.

He was at a huge disadvantage to Trump too in terms of support from the media.  If Trump had to deal with the media that Nixon had to deal with he would already be out of office.

sure, there was no right wing propaganda machine then like there is now.

Roger Ailes was part of the Nixon admin. He went on to found the very Fox News that today is keeping Trump afloat.

Why is the President of the United States on a phone call that he knows is being monitored and potentially recorded, asking the President of another country to uncover dirt on somebody who is in the running to get the job that he currently has?

And why do you think that's ok?
