NO. 11

TITANS

Previous rank: No. 12

What a glorious win for the Titans, who wiped away a double-digit second-half deficit, on the road, against a division rival. This was a total team effort. Ryan Tannehill delivered another solid performance, punctuated with a perfectly thrown dagger touchdown pass to Kalif Raymond in the fourth quarter. Derrick Henry went off for 149 yards and a score (the Titans are now 12-1 since 2016 when Henry has at least 18 carries). The defense forced the Colts into three second-half turnovers, including two Jacoby Brissett interceptions. And, last but not least, there was a huge performance from special teams, which came up with the field-goal block and touchdown return that swung the game. The Texans remain alone in first place in the AFC South after an impressive win of their own against the Patriots, but this is a division race that could go down to the final weekend. The Titans are a team reborn.

Pittsburgh, Rams and Houston are too high.

If the Texans keep getting their asses handed to them at home by Denver today, then they're definitely too high.

One ranking I saw has the Titans at #9. Also, Patriots should not even be in the top 5. Too many people rank teams by their record as opposed to how they are playing now once ypu get near the end of the season. The teams on the rise and fall are pretty clear by this point.

RANK 9

TITANS (8-5)

Previous rank: No. 11

What an impressive turnaround. Seven weeks ago, the Titans were the epitome of mediocrity, a middling team destined to play out the string come December. But then Ryan Tannehill replaced Marcus Mariota, and the offense went nuclear. On Sunday, the Titans rolled up 552 yards on the Raiders in a 42-21 win, their highest yardage total in a game since the team moved to Nashville. Ryan Tannehill was brilliant once again, throwing for 391 yards and three touchdowns, including a perfect 91-yard touchdown strike to A.J. Brown that showed off the QB's accuracy and arm strength. Derrick Henry, meanwhile, is making a late push for the rushing title. He went over 100 yards again and is now just 38 yards behind Nick Chubb for the league lead. The Titans will welcome the Texans into their building on Sunday, with first place in the AFC South on the line.
