When they weren’t busy shooting themselves in the foot with penalties or struggling with bad protection after their starting LT got ejected, their O was looking pretty good. Then on the safety, their backup LT got hurt and Mayfield injured his throwing hand. Not enough to leave the game, but if it was bad enough to take xrays then it had to affect him. His 3 INTs all came late trying to play catch up. Mariota had the better fantasy football numbers but only a total homer would think he is a better passer than Mayfield. So you're telling me the OL is the blame for the sacks, fumble and INTs? What's the status of the Titans OL? How many turnovers, penalties, etc did they produce? Is Mayfield being injured an excuse to poor play? Is Mariota's injuries an excuse for last year? Oh, I agree that sexy piece of manliness is the better passer... to our defense. He can totally read a play right into a sack or turnover. I get it, some people are just suckers for that 5 o'clock shadow. They know how Belichick works better than anyone. Both the Titans and Lions beat the Patriots last year, and it wasn’t a coincidence. Mangini won his first game in New England when he was with the Jets and beat them when he was with the Browns and had Colt McCoy at QB. And not only did they beat them, they destroyed them. Josh McDaniels beat them when he was in Denver. So there's definitely something to it. Starkiller

Every QB is affected by being down and being forced to throw against a D that can pin its ears back. Every QB is affected by injuring his throwing hand. This isn’t controversial... the Browns came in with a bad OL. Then they lost 2 LTs. If you don’t see how that would have been a problem then I don’t know what else to tell you. I agree with all of this. Somehow these excuses aren't valid in some cases, though. Further, a QB/coach/team in a similar situation may try to avoid turnovers to put their team in the best position to win. But that isn't sexy. This my point about how the turnovers came after OL injuries, throwing hand injury, and being down late and forced to throw. Their coaches couldn’t avoid having Mayfield in bad throwing situations. So Baker is not solely the victim of that consequence, as he was the cause for it happening.

Mariota's other passes weren't INTs either. But you're right, heaving a tight spiral into triple coverage does give that QB aura that passes the eyeball test. 1 hour ago, JakePA_Titan said: It's all a contributing factor. Even for Mariota. But it's different when we are talking about one game vs a 4 year, going into the 5th, career..... I agree with this. Mariota has to stay healthy this year to remain a Titan.
