Can Adam Humphries help bring back the 2016 version of Marcus Mariota?

huh?

He meant that it's possible we went BPA and Brown was the highest on their board.  Getting the best player is how you go from good to great

I got that from the rest of his post but that first sentence confused me.  Players drafted after the 2020 draft?

I believe Mariota's weaknesses as a passer are more outside the numbers and his strength is more inside so TE and Slot are where he can do damage.

I'd like to see if he force-feeds the slot and they struggle or he just doesn't look there.

Haven't the Titans been running 1 or 2WR most of the time?

Yep. We just signed the highest paid slot WR in FA and apparently we are going to be a run heavy team. Makes sense.

Wonder if this same logic will be used by folks at other positions drafted after the 2020 draft?  After all WR was not the only thing picked up in the 2019 FA period.  First round graded talent is always a good thing to pick up in the second round of the draft is it not?

As long as there's need for upgrade, I'm sure those positions will be given his attention, based on the priority he assigns them.

Passing is far more efficient than running the ball .  Let's do that shit more often.

Hey Touched, it’s almost like you have a giddy happy hour hard on. You sitting there giggling “I don’t think Merc knows” or something?

No, Under Mularkey they ran 3 WRs something like 46% of the time.

A team is in the 2:00 offense, 3rd down and playing from behind so often in the league you're almost guaranteed to run 3 WRs no matter how conservative you are.

Sorry TDF, that excuse has been used before to no avail.  Ask Jake and VY, they had lists of WR who could not even crack your list above.

Excuses?  The receivers Marcus has had have sucked.  And they sucked worse elsewhere.

But those QB's results?  Their RZ performance(s)?  Completion percentages?  TD:INT ratios?

Britt had a career beyond TN including 1k yards with LA.  Avery played after TN and even Washington had one decent year.

The receivers Marcus has had in N'ville didn't do half of that after leaving.  Most haven't been good enough to make a roster, much less become starters.

DGB had more yards with Marcus than Wright, or Hunter or Douglas.  And later was deemed too stupid to play for Philly.  Think about that for a minute.

The Titans' problems didn't begin with Mariota.

And we all know that.  But to hear you guys tell it,....

Dog just will not hunt.  VY's WR were worse than Mariota's.  Jake's WR were worse than Mariota's.

Corey Davis is the best WR of them all.  Delaine Walker(All Pro).  Matthews.  JRob has done an excellent job as GM of this franchise.  Last year, Matthews diva'ed and Walker got hurt.  But the talent for this offense is better than any since the franchise came to TN, especially better than VY and Jake.

And Delanie has had good years with Marcus.

Corey is just getting started.  2018 was his 1st full year.

Matthews had the best years of his career with Marcus.

But 2018 had no veterans with a full year under their belt that played a full season.

Jonnu and Taylor didn't play the full year.

Dion had a better year with Marcus than the previous one with Brady.

Outside of Davis, the rest were rookies.

The 2018 receiving corps besides Davis sucked.  And Davis had a decent year considering his experience level, and playing in a new system.

But previous year's receivers have been listed.  And they sucked.  And they still suck.  They didn't go elsewhere and ball-out, they sucked some more.

Britt left N'ville and had a 1k yard season, so your reasoning sucks as bad as Justin Hunter and DGB.

Don't forget Nick Williams that the Titans cut last year.  In addition, Batson and Jennings are little more than replacement level players.

The problem wasn't just that  Nick Williams was out there dropping balls, it was that he was out there dropping balls by week 3. It'll be interested who will be out there to start the year when they go with 2 wr sets. Hopefully by the end of the year it will be AJ.

Considering he caught more than 70% of his passes where as all our WRs caught far fewer would say that he is a huge improvement at least in terms of reliability.

I didn't say anything about production with Mariota.  My point is they are better than what Jake and VY had.  That's all.  When VY was here, people complained about the talent level of his targets, it fell on deaf ears.  Deaf ears don't improve with age.

Comparing their performances after leaving N'ville says otherwise.

The crop of WRs Mariota has been throwing to for the last two years is either gone or just now coming into their own, and it's almost guaranteed another one of them loses their job before the season starts.  JRob won't keep 7 WRs active.

Out of Batson, Jennings, Sharpe and Taylor, one of them will be gone.  We'll see if whomever it is can land a starting spot elsewhere, or if they go the way of Wright and Hunter or DGB and end up out of the league altogether.
