Six Ways to Manipulate Donald Trump

Recommended Posts

The Kim Darroch, the British ambassador was forced to resign because someone leaked his confidential memos and cables. The memos describes Trump and his administration as  “clumsy and inept,” “radiates insecurity,” “dysfunctional,” and “mired in scandal.

They also contained details on how the British should deal with Trump:

  1. Flood the Zone. Because Trump spends so much time in the Oval Office asking everybody for advice, the best way to sway Trump is to sway his familiars. “It's important to ‘flood the zone’: you want as many as possible of those who Trump consults to give him the same answer,” Darroch wrote. “So we need to be creative in using all the channels available to us through our relationships with his Cabinet, the White House staff, and our contacts among his outside friends.” Darroch bragged about having “cultivated” many of Trump's friends to influence him directly.
  2. Be a Phone Buddy. Trump’s fondness for telephone chat makes the shortest path to the Oval Office a quick call. Darroch instructed Prime Minister Theresa May to capitalize on Trump’s phone devotion by calling him more often. “In a perfect world, they would be speaking two or three times a month, if not more,” he wrote.
  3. Stroke Him. Then Stroke Him Some More. “You need to start praising him for something that he's done recently,” Darroch wrote. “You need whenever possible to present them as wins for him.”
  4. Keep It Simple, Stupid. In making points to the president, Darroch insisted, be “blunt,” as Trump doesn't do subtlety or ambiguity. This confirms what White House briefers have said about the president’s inability to concentrate on anything more complicated than a couple PowerPoint slides.
  5. How to Criticize Trump. Carefully.
  6. When In Doubt, Toss Him a Glitzy Party.

Going in everyone knew Trump wasn't a born and bred politician. No one believed it was going to be smooth.

Why a lot of ppl supported him over someone they felt knew how to work the system.

This reads like how a grade school teacher might brief an incoming substitute teacher on a difficult child in the class.

It's hilarious. The con man doesn't know when he's getting conned.  I guess that's what happens when you spend the majority of your life surrounded by enablers, sycophants and yes men.

Hey Injured Antelope, I was down in Australia last fall. Don’t you think it’s a bit hypocritical to be laughing about American politics? All I heard when I was there was how fucked up the country was.

Another leaked memo from Britain's ambassador mentions his belief that Trump pulled out of the Iranian nuclear deal because it was associated with Obama.

"The administration is set upon an act of diplomatic vandalism, seemingly for ideological and personality reasons -- it was Obama's deal," ambassador Kim Darroch wrote in a diplomatic cable in May 2018."

In May 2018, Britain's then-foreign minister Boris Johnson went to Washington to try to persuade Trump not to abandon the Iran deal. In a cable sent afterward, Darroch indicated there were divisions in Trump's team over the decision, and criticized the White House for a lack of long-term strategy.

"They can't articulate any 'day-after' strategy; and contacts with State Department this morning suggest no sort of plan for reaching out to partners and allies, whether in Europe or the region," Darroch wrote.

I'm still waiting on a leaked memo from Britain that tells us something we don't know
