Democrats - Since Taking The House 6 Months Ago

Recommended Posts

Rolltide

Many of those bills cited by Tuco have not been passed by the house yet. A feature of the "For the people act" is the one where we let felons vote.

The American dream and promise act is just the dream act but it needs to be amended to not offer a path to citizenship.

Nobody who disrespects our laws and comes to this country illegally should ever have a path to citizenship.

Right after Obama and the Clintons.

2.5 years since Obama was President and 19 since Clinton. Do you have anything of substance to add or is your entire argument "but Obama and the Clintons"? pathetic sad little sheep.

Other than funding the government to avert Trump's government shutdown, here's just a few of the laws that the House passed so far this year:

For the People Act - HR 1(to limit gerrymandering, implement , expand voting rights, and limit corruption)

Assault Weapons Ban

Enhanced Background Check Act of 2019

H.R. 790: Federal Civilian Workforce Pay Raise Fairness Act of 2019

Equality Act

Paycheck Fairness Act

Violence Against Women Reauthorization Act

Disaster Relief of 2019 Act (despite idiot Republicans that kept killing it)

H.R. 6: American Dream and Promise Act of 2019

Bill to limit separation of children from their parents

Along with 233 other bills that have been passed by the House so far in 2019. These bills are all waiting to be taken up by the Senate for a vote (they won't be, of course).

The better question is: what has the Republican Senate done this year other than rubber stamp Trump nominees?

"Sen. John Kennedy (R) called on the Senate Wednesday to do more than confirm nominations and lambasted Congress for its lack of legislative accomplishments.

Kennedy’s criticism comes as the Senate has picked up the pace of confirming President Donald Trump’s executive and judicial branch nominees, thanks to a recent rules change that reduces debate time on certain nominees.

While the Louisiana Republican acknowledged that confirming nominees to the executive and judiciary branches is a priority, he said more legislation needs to come to the floor.

“We have done nothing. Zero. Zilch. Nada,” Kennedy said."

^^^^Good resource for tracking legislation in the future so that you don't have to ask dumb questions.

Which of these passed in the Senate and signed into law by the President?

@TennesseeTuxedo and @Starkiller need to come together and find reasonable compromise.  It's great to debate and point out the flaws of the other party.  That is what they are doing in Washington, meanwhile "we the people are not getting anything"   Washington is dysfunctional and they have us playing the same game.  The only difference is at night and on weekends they party together with our money.

Remember when Cohen was before them being questioned.  Somebody accused the repub of being racist.  He said, "I'm not a racist, the dem running the show is my bud.  We hang together."  But they can't get a bill on the floor of the senate.

Think about it.

There is no reasonable compromise anymore

That is a major, major problem.  A house divided will fall.  Nationhood is a team sport.  As we fight and now are nearing a boiling point, we lack a leader on a national level who will even say we need to stand together.  I remember times when the president would say, "we need to tighten our belts."  Today, people would think DT meant to go out and strangle people.

We had a leader on the national level who said we need to stand together and even had a history of working across the aisle. The right shit on him for 8 years and refused to compromise.

You say this as if you have a point at all, you don't because you asked what house Democrats have done since taking over the house not the Senate. And it's not the democrats fault that Mitch mcconnell won't bring up anything for a vote because he's a corporate lackey and trump crony.
