Or he’s weak or he’s got bad form or he’s learning

TE is maybe the slowest development position in the league. It takes time for these guys to adjust from college where a lot of these offenses don’t use TEs nearly the same way the league does. Give Jo

This is not the place to talk about Trump.

He's def not very good

I've watched him play and have the same opinion.

He has flashed on a few plays but overall doesn't do much.

delanie sucked his first 2 years two.

jonnu is ok. he will get better.

really hope its being misreported that it was an ACL.. but the recovery time does seem reaaaally long for an MCL at this point.

Jonnu Smith was demonized harshly early on because he dropped a pass or two and because Walker was out injured.

He's also a pass catching H-back trapped in a run heavy offense

BTW, that 2 yard pass that turned into a 61 yarder was MM's longest pass play of the season and really boosted the yds per attempt!

Walker and Smith both need to have big years for MM to have any chance of staying.  He's best across the middle of the field, has always had a rapport with the TE's and the OC was the TE's coach so we know the scheme will be TE friendly (several players have alluded to it as well).

Smith is a weapon if used right.  I'm much more concerned about their ability to block for the run-game without a FB or even a decent blocking TE.  Hopefully one of these UDFA FBs shows out in preseason.

It wasn't just about a couple drops;  over the first half of the season, Jonnu's run blocking was consistently horrible in a scheme that relied heavily on TE blocking.    He was one of several factors that contributed to a highly ineffective running game.

From what I saw on film, Smith was as much a liability as Kline early in the season.  But Jonnu eventually stepped it up and played really well down the stretch, whereas Kline's improvement was merely adequate.

It’s interesting to note that there’s 2-3 FBs we picked up for the offseason.
