It’s certainly not a weakness...

We'll see.  Anytime someone tells me that a position is a strength and we are depending on a 5th round draft pick to carry much of the load, the word 'strength' doesn't necessarily come to mind...

Honestly, I’m not remotely as concerned with how good the OLBs will play against the run as I am with how they can sack/pressure the QB.

All of the OLBs last year had a combined 11.5 sacks. Landry had 4.5 of those. Injuries aside, you can expect his sack totals to go up significantly. And the rest of them pretty much have to be better than last year’s starters.

I except Honor to be a >10 sack guy most years moving forward.

I would not be surprised if he sniffs 15 sacks in some years...

I don't know about you but I expect double digit sacks from him.

Someone has to start ahead of Wake. Presumably it’s Walker, Finch, or Correa.

Wake is going to play 50-60% of snaps.  Any of those guys can play on early downs and be fine as the "Starter" if that's what you want to call them.

Exactly.  This idea that somehow the OLB's are worse than last year makes me chuckle.  Wake was better than Morgan and Orakpo combined on a little over half as many snaps.  Finch was better and improving.  Landry was better and improving.  Correa was better and might not even make the roster.  They were all better.  Morgan and Orakpo set the edge but were horrible as pass rushers last year.  Bottoms in the league in terms of pressures and sacks.

Wake was elite on a per snap basis.  Watch him and it's not even close.  Landry had 4.5 sacks in limited action and is primed to take a big step into year 2.  Finch could be really solid in his second year as well.  Walker has the potential to be a factor as well.  It's just laughable.

Why does someone have to start ahead of Wake?

Because he is just a pass rush specialist at this point. He might “officially” be the starter but he is really only going to play on passing downs.

Im sure he’ll be spelled a bit due to his age but I expect him to play 75-80% of the snaps.

He played less than half the defensive snaps for Miami last year, so don’t count on it. Basically he played about 55% of their snaps week to week before missing the last 2 games. I expect something similar this year.

He isn’t much of a run stopper anyway. There is no point in wearing him out. Just let him do what he does best. Let the other guys play in the base defense.

Used optimally, he is a 30-40% of snaps guy...

The point was that our 5th round pick should be able to contribute.  He will probably play as much or more than Finch did last year.

Wake played 500 snaps last year.  Landry played in almost 600 as a perspective.

So I would assume guys like Finch and Walker will get significant snaps.  So what?

Yeah, Wake will only be playing about 50% of the snaps and mostly on pass downs I would think.
