Guys, especially OL come back from an ACL all the time. This is something else. Yeah not paying your RT 13 million. They will work on a contract extension instead of paying him that much. /thread

Obviously a lot of them worked and it covered up for some of our personnel problems, but even so.... No I don't. Although, what you may mean, is teams played the run and played a ton of single coverage in MM's hot streak and it presented predefined reads and easier throws. But the problem imo is teams figured out if they didn't play man and 8 man fronts MM would struggle(opposing coaches said it), Beddingfield and Cosell both said they didn't know why teams didn't always play zone against him. It wasn't that teams figured out it was "old school" Justafan

With the salary cap going up another 5-10M next year too. Yeah, that's what's going to happen. oldschool
OILERMAN
I never thought the Titans drafted Conklin in case they didn't keep Lewan. Keeping Lewan was the biggest no brainer of all time and there is no way in hell conklin could have played LT anyway Justafan, thor, and tgo 2

It wasn't that teams figured out it was "old school" Yes, he is awful against zone. Sorry, I should have clarified, I wasn't really agreeing with Huston's premise. I was just addressing that specific point on Mularkey's offense and recalled several plays that were basically trick plays or highly schemed plays as Greg Cosell often called them. tgo
@WG53 There's like a 75% chance that Conklin is gone after this year, whether he plays poorly or very well. "/thread"

I posted a while back I didn't think they'd pick up the 5th year option and @japan started posting whether I would be right or not. I didn't think it was a big deal to be right about it, next thing I know it's some kind of challenge. Maybe people who are often wrong are too worried about sucking others down into their level of constant wrongness! "/thread" I wouldn't be surprised if they don't sign Kelly to some kind of middle of the road 3 year deal or so. Between back-up and starter money. That way they can have him if needed and/or go after a RT next year in the draft. They scouted several RT candidates this year, they should have been the giveaway on the 5th year option. Our needs next year are probably going to be RT and CB (depending on what happens with Logan Ryan and Malcolm Butler). Perhaps center and RB as well. You think it's likely that they will commit approximately 52-55M to the OL in 2020? If Conklin performs well of course. freakingeek
They are haggling with Conklin on the extension and using whatever leverage they can. He will be signed eventually.
