I'd rather have 2020 picks honestly. Odds are high we'll need to move up for a QB.

Typical overreaction.   JRob decides not to exercise Conklin's fifth-year option and pay him a top-three salary.....so everyone immediately assumes JRob is done with him.  You either throw money at th

I wonder why they're being so cryptic about it and going right up to the deadline?

Could be that they are working on a team friendly extension or that they won’t pick it up and he’s not in their plans?  Not sure.

Could be.

Maybe they're just using it as leverage for an extension.

With the way the draft played out I think there is a greater chance they pick up the option now.

Agreed.

And moreover, even though Nate Davis played RT his senior year, the Titans listed him as a guard straight out when they drafted him. He clearly will only be playing guard.

Whereas they listed Amani Hooker as a "DB."

It's going to make him one of if not the highest paid RT in the league, he was pretty awful last season.

It's not guaranteed until next season but they risk any injury guaranteeing it.

It also helps him that Robinson's big trade involved him.

Wouldn't be a good situation to enter next offseason with neither Conklin or Kelly under contract.

There is also the issue of having so many starters off contract and only 1 franchise tag.

Yep.

With Henry, Byard, Logan Ryan, Conklin, and Mariota all coming due, they very well may need the franchise tag this year (for once in a long long time).

Was looking at Over the Cap yesterday, there are currently 26 players scheduled to be off contract at the end of this season, mentioned in another thread yesterday this team could have a vastly different look in 12 months time.

For those interested scroll down after clicking the link below it has the JRob interview from today.

For who?

Henry is who comes to mind for me if he breaks out and is consistent all year (a big if).

The RB tag is manageable for a top level RB and that's a position you don't necessarily want to give a blockbuster long term deal to.

I think Byard gets his extension this summer, Conklin gets the option, and Ryan gets extended next year before FA

I could see the tag being an option for Mariota if 1) he stays healthy and 2) maintains the upper end of his production level.

If he had some great, break out year, they'd probably do an extension (unlikely, of course).
