Your argument is really tiresome. Even 8mm and TDF aren’t comparing him to Rodgers or Wilson. The question has always been can he stay healthy and actually develop. I doubt it, but the fact you co tin

One thing that is very obvious is he hasn’t lost the team. Even the defense has went out of their way to say he’s the leader.

Because we've got a bunch of team players.  Do you think that Antonio Brown would be so kind?

Mariota practiced the week of the finale against the Colts, it's why everyone thought he was going to play.

This is actually one of the stranger and least talked about stories on the board. He apparently had a broken rib, tore his foot, and cracked a vertebrae by the end of the season to go along with the elbow and shoulder nerve injuries. The team said nothing about it even after the season and still had him practicing going into the last week. From the reports he brought in an outside specialist, and it sounded like he and his doctor came to the decision along with the team instead of the team making the decision unilaterally. All around a weird situation.

Mariota doesn't seem happy with how it was handled

I'd guess Vrabel wanted him to play

Anything else is hard to know for sure

That interview from Hawaii was the first time I’ve seen him make any statement that showed stress with the relationship with the team. It would have been really nice if the guy could have stayed healthy and developed, because as of right now I’ve seen him flash every year and regardless of narrative the injuries and constant changing of scheme has take its toll.

I actually would say he was unhappy with how it was handled, which is why he brought in a specialist and then ended up not playing. I guess that’s still a gray area because it was never confirmed. The narrative I remember after the game seemed to be that Marcus had a big hand in bringing in the specialist.

You forgot the strained oblique and sprained AC Joint.  The plantar fasciitis is really painful from what I've been told and he had a complete tear.

It's actually impressive that he played as much as he did with all that going on.  No one should ever question Marcus's toughness or love for this team.  Reports I've read is that the Team doctors didn't feel confident after the second stinger and so sent him back to the specialist who told Marcus that there was potential permanent damage if he continued to push it.

Originally, it sounded a lot like Marcus told the team that he wasn't going to play at the recommendation of an outside specialist but after Kahursky's reporting last month, it became pretty clear that the team was pretty involved in the decision and supported the specialist's conclusions.  They just didn't get the final diagnoses until late Friday night and up until that point, though he was going to play even though he wasn't 100% but didn't have the diagnoses of potential long term damage until everyone was already under the impression that Marcus was going to play.

All-in-all, the team handled the situation poorly and it doesn't really change the fact that the Titans had zero chance to win once it became clear that Mariota wouldn't be on the field.

Smokescreen?  Pretty obvious.

Smoke screen to what? The dr determined that it was unsafe for him to play I’d guess. What else would keep a warrior who played through all the injuries off the field in a playoff type game?

there is a lot to last season that didn't quite make sense...being available as the #2 but not starting??  That really goes against the norm.

and if I'm the team I damn sure want to know if there is any risk of permanent injury to a guy I'm on the hook for to the tune of $20+ mill.  Why are you relying on him to go out and get his own opinion from a different doctor?

It is because people were wondering if he was healthy enough to throw.

There isn’t a single mention about his health in the article. From what I can remember there were zero questions about the ability to recover from the injury in a reasonable amount of time.

It doesn't look like he's bulked up as much as I had hoped.

It's good to hear he's healthy and moving around and getting some early work in with the WRs.  I really want him to bounce back this year and prove every doubt I have wrong.

This was discussed ad nauseam at the time. Standard strategy with an injured player. Leave doubt in the minds of the Colts. You’ve been following pro football long enough to know this.

Im sure Mariota wanted to play in the biggest game. They let him try and throw but they knew from the doctor that they needed to sit him.

I remember that Charger doctor saying that if he didn’t get the feeling back in his fingers in a week that it could linger work a long time.
