DecepticonShawn
Great thread. Ive argued with some people on here saying that taywan gets open downfield with ease. Problem is him dropping it or Mariota overthrowing him. Huston

He is great at getting open deep but has a small catch radius and wont win may contested balls but as the fourth option now he is more then adequate. He just isn't the guy you would look to first to just make a first down catch but if you need a third and long play he is your guy.
SleepingTitan
You can hardly call those routes "crisp." Mariota is no gunslinger, and in order for him to target you routinely, he needs to know exactly where you'll be so he can underthrow you. Does he really need to be great at contested catches when CBs can hardly contest him in coverage? Huston
Popular Post nine
Taywan has a really nice skill set and is nimble after the catch; he just has to develop greater consistency than he’s shown thus far. Every receiver has a bad drop once in a while. But when a ball hits him square in the hands at chest or face level...he has to make that catch 9 times out of 10, no matter what. Taywan has yet to show that he can make the occasional tough catch on an outside-the- frame throw or while battling a DB for position. He can’t just catch the easy, routine plays where he’s wide open. Just as a quarterback is expected to make the difficult throw every now and then....receivers are expected to make the tough catch when needed. But it’s not unusual for a mid-round pick to take 2-3 years to put it all together. Taywan made significant strides in year two, and I’m optimistic that progress will continue in year three. He’s already shown that he can compete and get open against quality DBs; now he has to show that he can finish those plays when given the opportunity. But on the bright side...he can only get better in those situations. Nowhere to go but up.

tgo
I was probably too hard on the 2nd year player. If he can improve his concentration and being in the right spot in his 3rd year, he could be a good player. titanruss, Thrill, and Number9
Mythos27
I've been hard on Taylor probably because i didn't like the pick but he definitely has some ability and I hope he works out for us.

Not that anyone expects an 80% catch rate in contested situations...but if he can get to where he’s getting inside leverage and winning the battle maybe 5 out of 10 times, that’s a huge improvement over doing it once or twice in 10-15 opportunities. I like his potential and I fully expect he’ll continue improving and be more reliable and more productive in year 3. He’s just not there yet. Titan8425
SCREW TITAN WR's with POTENTIAL. There's always one on this team that people defend that should go. Hell, some even defend them after they go to the next team, and out of the league. Supernope, woolfolksunclesuncle, and XAEA12
