This is...strange.

I was just listening to Wyatt on 3HL and he kept saying things like "remember there are other free agents at safety too" and "I wouldn't rule out the Titans looking and seeing what else is out there" when Vaccaro came up, which was strange.

I'm still keeping an eye on Eric Weddle personally. Adrian Amos is another guy who is set to hit FA who is a good strong safety.

And Robinson knows Chris Conte well from Tampa (a downgrade on Vaccaro certainly).

The Vikings also may release Andrew Sandejo.

But what if they have something in the works that is going to limit the amount of money that they can devote to the safety position - whether that be a Byard extension or other free agent moves.

I've been messing with FA scenarios and stuff given the amount of cap space we have, and it's tricky to get the roster filled out with the number of needs we have.

It could be that they want to invest money in a DL or a G or WR or something rather than at safety.

Say that want to sign Za'Darius Smith and Suh because they want to rush the passer with 4 (like Pees said recently) and want to be able to shut down the run in nickel, just for shits and giggles.

Well already that REALLY limits what you can do at WR, DL, S especially when you have extensions for Byard, Conklin, and Brown looming.

Speaking of Weddle.

I'm telling you guys - keep an eye on this.

There are so many top end S available this offseason, Byard and Weddle became close friends at the Pro Bowl a couple of years ago.

Yep, Weddle is Byard's mentor.

Landon Collins is most definitely going elsewhere. Obviously that's not happening with a Byard extension coming up but I'm happy that we're actually looking at the position. I think SS is a pretty big need, you need cover people & plenty of them.

I really want Weddle. We can get him at a very reasonable value & he could give us a top 3 safety duo next year. I'm surprised the board is so down on him, he's still much better then Vaccaro even at his age.

Better and cheaper.

Then you groom Cruikshank and/or a rookie (from a very strong class) behind him for a year or two.

Weddle can teach everyone too, not just Byard. Logan Ryan and him could work very well with eachother in the middle of the field.

It’d be like having 3 coaches in the middle of the secondary.
