He’s mainly focusing on UBI and Medicare for all bc people are stupid and can’t remember more than 1-2 things they watch or hear. He addresses a shit ton of policies on his page. https://www.yang2020.com/policies/ Hes got way more policy proposals than anyone else running for president. Go to his site. Just went and checked out that website. He's got some really interesting ideas but some of them are radical beyond any candidate in my memory with absolutely no chance of ever gaining enough support to pass. Many of them would be instantly challenged and overruled in court. Still, it is exactly this sort of innovative thinking I welcome in the Presidential discussion as it has been sorely lacking. We've been stuck on broken policies for several decades. titansfb, and Mythos27

And they sure as hell did their best to paint him as not an American. I’d say it was harder for a black man to get a fair shake. I actually think most people would accept an Asian American president. Studies show even racist white men like Asian women, though maybe that wouldn’t apply to Asian men. Anyway, if Obama could get elected then so could a comparable Asian American. Be honest, your study is based on TRollTard. MadMax

We've been stuck on broken policies for several decades. Exactly. This was my biggest take-away from Sanders' 2016 run. Even though he didn't win he helped bring sorely needed attention to issues that needed addressing and wasn't afraid of the labels hurled at him from both parties. For what ever reason we've reached a point where politics has become all about the politicians and not enough about the actual policies That's where people miss on Sanders supporters; they think people somehow like Bernie for Bernie when in reality people like him because his policies and for the people and that he is committed to them. Similarly, I love that guys like Andrew Yang are bringing up ideas that make people think because even an impractical idea may be refashioned into something that works and helps people over time. If we all just sit around and talk about how nothing can ever be done, nothing will be done. titansfb, and Justafan
TF_Titan
He's a bit premature. It's hard to make the case that job loss due to automation is a problem when the unemployment rate is sitting at 4%. That's not to say we're not headed down that path, but we're not there yet. Unemployment may be low but Income inequality is high and low wage jobs are growing faster than high wage jobs. The version of UBI he's espousing is not a living wage in itself or a replacement for a job, rather a supplement to help raise the standard of living for the working poor. Then, when or if this automation job armageddon comes to pass we'll already have the framework in place to adapt. Btowner

It’s not premature in certain industries. Manufacturing has largely gone to automation or overseas. Or you look at something like coal, where humans were largely replaced with automation (pre-AI automation). Yes, lots of those people have found jobs elsewhere so employment figures balanced out. But what it does is cut the demand for employment, which lowers wages across the board. This is why the middle class has dwindled and the incomes of the non-wealthy has basically stagnated for decades. pat
The reason for a Green New Deal and not simply investing in infrastructure is because cities built around cars don't scale. 1.) The more roads, the more congestion. The more congestion, the more roads. Back and forth, back and forth, with no economic output other than selling cars and pouring concrete. 2.) The more spread out the city, the more difficult it is to provide services. What are services? Police. Fire Department. Sanitation. Schools. Water. Electricity. Communications. Hospitals. So yes, we want more plants in Michigan building cars. But we also want Detroit to be built around a sustainable grid and not collapsing amidst its own sprawl. My point is that in order for UBI to become palatable to the majority of Americans it's going to have to affect a much larger percentage of the population. Once you start to see a large segment of white collar jobs disappearing it will have much more traction.

No damn way we can automate everything nor would want to. Chrysler Fiat is going to build a $4.5 bil dollar plants in Michigan and employ 6500 workers. Heck, if they are going to build a brand new state of the art plant why are they hiring so many workers? They can just automate everything..... Facts are they do automate where it makes sense. Automating some processes is safer with more consistent quality and high productivity. But not every process makes sense. But either way the ONLY way to improve anyone's standard of living is to INCREASE the average productivity per person. Produce more with fewer resources. That isn't rocket science. That also keeps jobs here. I swear you have no clue about this stuff or basic economics. Bernie Sanders might be an economic genius compared to Starkiller. Demand for employment is HIGH (low unemployment) which puts pressure on labor rates to INCREASE. As better opportunities arise people move up to those jobs and entry level people take their place. That is normal. Now put a socialist in charge and start implementing dumb crap like the NEW RAW DEAL and you will see the opposite happen (what do you think will happen when the new plant in Michigan shuts down because it makes combustion engine cars). Hell, jobs at McDonalds will dry up as fewer people can afford to eat there. We all end up in the same economic class - at the bottom. People like Sanders literally would rather we all end up in poverty than someone actually becomes rich. It is simply a stupid perspective. Technology advances exponentially. Certain jobs may be safe from automation for now but they won't be forever. Entire industries will be swallowed up by automation and more will be. Starkiller
https://gizmodo.com/ups-has-been-delivering-cargo-in-self-driving-trucks-fo-1837272680 The self-driving freight truck startup TuSimple has been carrying mail across the state of Arizona for several weeks. UPS announced on Thursday that its venture capital arm has made a minority investment in TuSimple. The announcement also revealed that since May TuSimple autonomous trucks have been hauling UPS loads on a 115-mile route between Phoenix and Tucson. UPS confirmed to Gizmodo this is the first time UPS has announced it has been using TuSimple autonomous trucks to deliver packages in the state. Around the same time as the UPS and TuSimple program began, the United States Postal Service and TuSimple publicized a two-week pilot program to deliver mail between Phoenix and Dallas, a 1,000 mile trip.
