If capitalism is evil and socialism is the answer, why isn’t the caravan heading for Venezuela?

well.. there is no caravan so...........

and how retarded is it to think just because we are the closest best thing - that we are the best thing ever?

guarantee nearly every single illegal alien would rather be in Canada but its way further and way colder.

absolute capitalism is absolutely evil... you'd think as a christian @TennesseeTuxedo that you'd know money is the root of all evil. a society whose sole purpose is to create the most money will be inherently evil. take a step back and look. when you have a ton of money your responsibility to society actually increases... but we in this country use excess money as a free pass to avoid contribution.

responsible capitalism and social capitalism are the best current routes to go. you can still be a capitalist society but emphasize people over money/corporations.

Socialism is working pretty well got Amazon, GE Exxon and other major co.s who had their taxes slashed and didn't have to pay anyway. Worked pretty well for the big banks during the bailout.

I really don't have anything against a system more like Canada or some in Europe but the bottom line is people need to understand the pie, the productivity of the nation, depends on free enterprise.  There has to be incentive.  For there to be more to go around the pie has to grow.  People in left field like AOC think money stuff just appears out of no where.  Like we could all quit working and the government could send us checks.  Thus even if we socialize medicine and such we still need to keep the pie growing to fund it.

Now read this and you get the idea of another idiotic perspective.  Taxing companies, the ones who actually ARE the pie and can make the pie grow, is stupid and we should look at removing restraints.  You don't continue to tax them as if that money is better left in the hands of government when it can do so much more out in the free enterprise system being re-invested and paying workers.  Oh, by the way, the dumbasses who want Medicare for all need to understand who pays for a medical coverage in a huge way now.  Yes, those horrible employers.

Is there no middle ground?  So can we incentivize these companies without offering corporate welfare?  Can healthcare be privatized and public at the same time?  Absolutely.  Too many people don't want to tangle in the weeds and understand there is a lot of grey area between the two extremes.  An optimal system is possible but it requires thinking outside the box and accepting that just because something has worked in the past it may not again in the future.

Losing Amazon is a huge blow to NY's economy and the leftist who act like they won a battle there are blind to the cost.  It's also a symptom of how far companies are willing to manipulate state governments into bidding for their services with grandiose promises they can never keep based on projections they pulled out of thin air.

State Governments should do a much better cost-benefit analysis on bringing business into the area vs lost revenue before signing these deals because often they only work in favor of the company.

It's funny to me that Republicans are so very against government interference when it helps workers but are completely for government interference when it helps businesses.  A truly free market system would let it play out without any interference at all.  It would also allow unions to become strong so that labor interests would have an equal say to what businesses have.

Do Republicans actually believe in free markets or are they more interested in the type of government that @Starkiller alluded to in his post earlier?

You can say NY missed a great opportunity, but you can't say it was a "huge blow" to its economy. All of that just existed on paper. The economy of NY is exactly the same today as it was a weak ago.

Our system is broken. There are too few winners and too many losers. Wealth is consolidated in the hands of a few. If the Right continues to ignore this, we will get a Socialist Populism. It's coming.
