Taking over healthcare and having massive regulation and taxes is not supported by the majority of Southern shit kicker Americans who it would help the most.  Nor is it supported by big pharma and the thieving insurance conglomerates who fill politicians pockets to ensure it never happens.

Solely focusing on rates without considering the tax base it applies to is a disingenuous argument, and seems to be nothing more than scare tactics based on suppositions. Talking about either without understanding the relevant loopholes / exemptions / credits is just as bad.

Talking about end goals of a taxation strategy and a reasonable burden on the taxpayers -- essentially the outlining parameters -- is the only thing that makes sense at this point and work backwards from there.  70% tax brackets!! means a lot less when you find out nobody really paid that before the '86 reformation act.

Raising the tax rate to 73% would lead rich people to put all their money into tax-exempt bonds, push that money overseas, or change income to stock options so they would get taxed at the much lower capital gains rate.

You could close some loopholes but not without really hurting the economy and placing a higher burden on all Americans and not just the ultra-wealthy.

On the other hand, I have seen estimates that raising that tax rate just 1% on Americans who make more than 200,000 would generate 123 billion in revenue over 10 years and returning the corporate tax rate from 21% back up to 35% would generate more than a trillion dollars per decade.  That alone would go a long way.

Start by repealing the Trump Tax cut. Then create a new higher tax bracket that hits at $1M of income.

Dude, just listen to yourself. You’re all over the map. Government run healthcare and higher taxes are evil socialism but you want to emulate Canada???

GTFO...

Now say libs wanted to be more like other countries that are more socialist?  Then why mention BS like 70% tax rates?  Europe and Australia are around 45% for top earners.  Justify your case with that.  Sweden and Denmark are close to 60% and these libs are higher than that.  By the way the US is now at 35% so it wouldn't sound so ignorant or be as big of a stretch to consider 45%.

The 70% tax rate that has been proposed wouldn’t even apply to 99% of Americans. It’s a new tax bracket that wouldn’t even trigger until someone has an annual income of $10M

My point was you libtards would have more of a chance of emulating Canada than just spouting off what AOC and others say.  Focus on problem solving.  And don't come up with these ridiculous tax rates no one can take seriously even if we don't fall into that bracket.  I'm not totally against higher taxes for healthcare but what I'm against is giving money to a government that is not reliable or trustworthy.  We have seen the pitfalls in education where more and more money gets spent but we get worse results (and they want more).  I'd also feel better about something if it were based on meaningful thought rather than just hating Trump.

Oh, by the way there was no Russian Collusion.  So should I feel good about sending my money to people like retarded, walls are immoral Pelosi or Adam ant brain Ship?

As far AOC she couldn't mentally think her way out of a paper bag.  I wouldn't hire her to wash cars.

AOC is 1 member of Congress and is largely isolated within the Democratic Party. Republicans are the only ones who seem to think her position matters.

Because she scares them to death.

I don’t think she scares them at all. She just makes for a good straw man argument to paint Democrats as socialist. They will campaign on her like they have on Pelosi.

They're afraid.  Watch how vehemently they attack.  She's not scared to bring up anti-establishment ideas and they're afraid it'll catch on with the public.

She represents all of the ideas that the Republican rich donors are most hard set against and don't want to catch on so they're trying to stomp down hard on her before her ideas gain any traction.
