Arthur Smith promoted to OC

I bet they decided to make the hire internal. Kept competition between internal. Weighed decision same as if external. And maybe Smith had to decide between GB and TN?

Certainly could have been another internal candidate, but wasn't there a pretty quick announcement that no Titan assistants would be following MLF?

Mariota will need 18 months to learn Smith's offense

No wonder it took them so long to get someone to take the job!

Or ask him to come out of retirement and start

Look out, ladies and germs! He's...

Big surprise the board's biggest homer is defending the hire. That HC for the packers has 1 year of experience calling plays and it didn't go that well.

Lafleur had no experience as a playcaller either.

Why would we want an even more injury prone version of Mariota?

I wouldn't. I just thought it sounded catchy. Hopefully Jrob can find us a diamond somewhere. I want a pocket passer 65+% who runs a pro style offense. Can throw it a good distance. Maybe we find that in a lesser school.

Not even close.  LaFluer had some experience calling preseason games and was heavily involved where ever  he went.

Someone with a resemblance of experience and respect as a playcaller.

You have figured it out.  They have moved him to take ML's spot.  ML had experience as the OC of the Rams.  LaFleur was a rising star in football and had worked with highly talented QBs.  He came up under some of the best in the NFL and is now HC of the GB Packers.  He was a great hire.

Smith doesn't even have a wiki page.  Google him.

I already said it, it's very similar to the Browns hiring Freddie Kitchens.  They didn't even have a search.  We have a defense minded coach which many are moving away from because the offenses are so dominant.  I like Vrabel.  But why take him from LaFleur who just got the HC job at a premiere team with a HOF QB and replace him with an inexperience OC.  Vrabel can't guide him and help bring him along.

If they lose, everybody is on the hot seat.  Vrabel, JRob, Miss Amy

But only @8MM is willing to say something.

Why would there be?  I don't remember much fanfare when Mcvay was promoted to OC from TE's coach...

I’m not pining for it at all. I just know I would be hearing about it more if a more popular franchise had made the move. There was plenty of conversation about similar moves this season. Maybe it’s just

my bubble.
