And if he's not, what are you going to do?

Continue to be a fan and watch us have a mediocre at best QB unfortunately

What’s great is Mariota will be gone after next year 🥳

I’m surprised you’re still even here, Eeyore.

Oh, wait! I forgot! You were hoping we would lose by 50.

Is that right?

Yes. In his first 4 games he averaged 1 int and .5 TDs per game. In his last 10 he averaged .4 ints and .9 TDs per game...basically reversing the ratios. Half of his picks for the season came in those first 4 games.

That’s actually pretty interesting, especially when taking into account the Jags, NY, Wash games where we didn’t throw the football.

Simply put, Mariota's problem is he can't stay healthy. His tendency to get hurt is the fountain from which all the other issues flow. Unless, he somehow figures out some magic trick to keep himself healthy he WILL bust. You can win a superbowl with a healthy Mariota but season after season of a hurt Mariota is QB hell.

Is that right? He had a 116 rating against the playoff teams he faced sans the Indy game where he went out.

Dig a tad deeper and it's a lot more telling.

Against all playoff teams, MM played in 7 of the 9 games and the team was 3-4.  Total Passer Rating was 110 in those games.  Great, right?  The offense averaged 19.1 points per game (in line with their season average which was 27th overall).

In the wins, Mariota was outstanding.  112 Rating, 6 TD, only 1 INT and they team averaged 29.3 PPG.  Great numbers all around.

In the 4 losses, his Passer Rating was a good 105.9 but with only 3 TD and 2 INT.  The team averaged 11.5 PPG.  Which sucks.

I forgot about the Ravens (fuck em). 3-3 isn’t bad at all. You can’t count the Indy game since he got hurt. Well you can if you would like.

Thinking about  what you just said we played playoff teams 9 times this season. That’s a lot when you think about teams with terrible divisions.

Anyways, to the meat of your post Marcus ended up with a 105 rating in the losses. Terrible.

I count Indy because he played half the game.  FWIW, he gets credit for the TD that Gabbert produced.

Regardless, that 105 rating is pretty hollow when you put up 11.5 points per game.  Note that the epic game vs the Texans (that produced 17 points in a decisive loss) helped skew that number up to 105.

What's absolutely frightening is the production versus the non-playoff teams....Passer rating of 71.6.  Ironically the PPG was 18 but that includes the Henry monster game vs Jax where they put up 30.

He didn’t have a good season. No one is disputing it. His passer rating is what it is, and it’s reflective of his play regardless of the new gen stats posted. He played well in all of those games except the Ravens game. He wasn’t spectacular in all of them, but he played well.

OILERMAN

Vrabel said he took MM out of the Indy game so he wouldn't get hurt, they were down huge at the time. MM played the next week and was fine physically

How do you know he was fine physically?  Lafleur sounds like he's saying differently.

The next week is when he played the Texans and racked up all the garbage stats in the blowout loss.
