tgo
Having a tight end centric offense is ideal for Mariota given his skillset, so this is an appealing option. Justafan, and OILERMAN
tgo
Kuharsky: I spoke to three former members of the offensive staff in recent days and all three turned immediately to Smith as the guy they’d like and expect to see succeed LaFleur. Another angle on this is: Arthur Smith has been here since Mariota was a rookie and knows him probably better than anyone even if he hasn't worked with him directly. tgo
Real quick too: Kuharsky broke the S&C coach news days before anyone else did. He's been by far the best beat reporter for a few years now when it comes to breaking news and he offers more than the others. Huston
If true then they probably keep Pat as QB coach, best scenario to be had for this year at least. Justafan
Nash
And Smith can buy the team if he likes, so money won't attract him away.. tgo
tgo
Luke Steckel was Arthur Smith's right hand man for a year in 2016, coaching tight ends. The year before he coached RBs. Prior to that he helped coach OL and was Munchak's assistant. The last two year he's been the Asst. WR coach. He played LB in college though. Promote Arthur Smith to OC and then make Steckel the TE coach? It's time for both guys to get rewarded for their work here. tgo
Sorry for all the posts - but another angle on this is that LaFleur could have tried to hire Smith as run game coordinator or something and that may put pressure on TN to make a move. Another option the Titans could have is to hire an outside OC to coordinate the pass game and call plays, and make Smith the run game coordinator. One option good for TE coach if Arthur Smith were promoted would be... wait for it.... Jason Michael. He'd be a great resource, having worked with Mariota previously and being mindful of all the systems Mariota has been exposed to. scine09
Everyone’s gotta start somewhere. And I think going in-house might be the best thing.
Popular Post TitanDuckFan
I could get behind the hiring of A. Smith long before I could advocate for O'Hara to take the job.
