He has 13 years experience, almost all in that Shanahan circle. Graduated Yale. I also read, and I'm looking for it, that all these young guys that came up under Shanahan like LaFleur & McVay, say that McDaniel is flat out the smartest of them, that some of the stuff he comes up with is genius. On the flip side he's also had some periods of depression & drinking problems. He's been fine for awhile, but it's probably the reason he's still just a run game coordinator. BTW the Niners were awesome running the ball this year. Ooooh. I like the sound of this guy. Though, it may be a case of him liking his current job and not wanting to deal with more responsibilities. Pat O’Hara 2. Keith Carter 3. Rick Dennison 4. Sean Ryan 5. Pat Devlin 6. Mike McDaniel 7. Zac Taylor 8. Aaron Kromer 9. Shane Waldron 10. Gary Kubiak I would throw in Mike McCoy and Joe Philbin as options as well. McCoy will never get another OC job again unless it’s for the chargers or if whisenhunt gets another HC gig. McCoy and Whisenhunt run totally different systems. And he wouldn’t go be the Chargers OC after being HC there. I mentioned McCoy bc he’s a zone blocking guy. The whole point of the shanny/mcvay system is so qbs don’t have to think as much after a certain point. McCoy’s is the complete opposite. He had a very solid overall plan as the HC and made the Titans really think about it. People around the league know what kept the Titans offense down, it wasn't the play caller, it was Mariota. Source? Or are we just to believe you based on your extensive history of being full of shit? Opus74, and TitanDuckFan 1

Interesting because the narrative was that Vrabel was a given. Mike Keith is a sound piece for the Titans. He's literally employed by the franchise. Everything he says is PR and what the front office wants him to say. Vrabel was JRob's target from the beginning. oldschool, Number9, and titanruss

I really don't think it was something that he had to say or helped the Titans. tgo

They May think LaFleur is smart and all but these bozos want the stereotypical “man” or as Jrob said “Leader of men” for the job not some poindexter who actually understand the game better then they could imagine. titanruss
Number9
I went to Toastmasters to improve my speaking skills. It's amazing the simple things you can learn to be a more confident speaker. LaFleur has access to much more talented coaches that just going to TM. After working with a top speech specialist, I don't think he would have any problem transitioning to be more alpha sounding. Mix in his knowledge of the game and he won't have a problem.
Flarb
He’s not proven as an OC. I think HC is a stretch at this point, but who knows. Titans made an unproven DC a HC.
