At 2:31 in the highlight video I posted dude blocks a punt. Lol! At 6' 4" 350lbs, he blocks a punt. That's impressive. This kid is going to be more than a 2 down player.

I think hes better than Ed Oliver

Oliver is a better pass rusher but he is on the small side.  He doesn't offer a lot in run defense.  Lawrence is the exact opposite.

There it is. The one I been waiting on.

Check out @Rotoworld_Draft’s Tweet:

20th best player in the class. Huh, that's awful close to 19.

Still extremely early in the process, Dane Brugler one of the best media draft analysts put out his mock draft 2.0 today, had Lawrence going at 28 to the Chargers.

Yes, very early.

Who did he have going to Tennessee?

Tennessee Titans: Christian Wilkins, DT, Clemson

I'm not a fan of any of the Clemson DL guys in the first round because I think the collective has elevated the individuals.

Brugler is on the right track with the position just not sure Wilkins is the right guy for us though.

Im not a fan personally. He doesnt move well. And I honestly dont care about how good his character is, meaningless for a DT.

Agree.

While things will shift over the next 3.5 months you can see the problem JRob will encounter picking at 19 when you see the entire mock draft from Brugler, there is a significant lack of "elite" skill position guys in this draft, there is going to be a tonne of OLB/IDL guys taken before we pick at 19.

5. Stock Down

The Clemson Tigers upset Alabama to earn a national title, but defensive tackle Dexter Lawrence was absent from the team's playoff victories because of a suspension for a failed drug test. NFL scouts say that episode, as well as his nose tackle position becoming extinct in the NFL, will push him down boards.

A former top prep player, Lawrence has plenty of name recognition among football fans, but scouts are not high on his abilities.

I don't know what planet this guy is from, but there's no planet I know of where a 6'4", 350 lb NT is becoming "extinct". Guys like that may be more on the rare side, but that doesn't make the position they play "extinct". Any NFL team that needs a big man in the middle of their Dline would trip over their own dicks to get one if available.

I think what he is referring to is that defenses are in nickle defenses with more pass rushers on the field more and more now and that there is not as much of a need for a 350 lb. NT. Kind of like what has happened to the FB position over the years. You can usually get someone to play that role with a similar set of skills, but they aren't quite that position (i.e. Stocker playing FB from time to time instead of having a real FB out there).

Exactly this, think Matt Miller made a poor choice of words in using extinct, they just aren't valued across the league as they used to be, and teams are certainly going to be reluctant to use premium draft picks on them if they don't seriously disrupt the QB on regular basis.
