Sounds like Mariota is incredibly tough for wanting to play through a possible neck injury. ?

Not all vertebrae fractures are equal. Guys have played with them before. This thread is dumb.

Right, and you are generalizing medical issues that aren't as straightforward as you want them to be. The issue is you are making assumptions as if your conclusions are obvious and apparent and they a

Fine. And then they worked him out after the second opinion. Why? Give one reason that makes sense.

We don't know when they got the 2nd opinion.  Was it Wed. or Sat.?  Don't know and really don't care because it's in the past.

What I care about is his future.  What does it take, if anything, so that the risk is eliminated and he can play again?

I’m really glad to see how many of you can’t use logic. So, fractures are different. Great point. Okay, well what does that have to do with the pregame tryout? I mean what exactly where they testing there? He isn’t getting hit. He’s throwing against air.

Since youre talking shit go ahead and try to answer the question.

According to Dungy and Manning, Peyton received his initial neck injury in a game against the Washington Redskins on Oct. 22, 2006. ... But, in September of 2010 it was reported that Peyton had been injured sometime before week one. That is when the disc in his neck began to do nerve damage.

Hey, this fracture might not be that bad, but if he gets hit wrong it’ll ruin his career. Welp let’s test him out before the game against air to see if we feel differently about the doctor’s assessment. Seriously stupid.

Read above genius.  Manning played with a neck injury and it wound up costing him in the end.

Yes we all remember Manning. Disc herniation is not a fracture you fucking retard.

Another thing that's possible is that maybe with all their injuries (specifically Casey and Ryan) and with Mariota's condition maybe they decided that the risks of playing Mariota outweighed the benefits since they knew that they were down important players and the depth was thin.  They probably knew that they had little chance to do any damage in the playoffs so it wasn't worth pushing him.

This is what happened. It’s very simple. Marcus doesn’t have a fractured neck. They would have never worked him out if that was the case. They backed him down and he let it happen. His nerve injury was at risk, and it’s possible he was told on a second opinion it was career threatening if he was hit wrong. The team went with Gabbert and Mariota accepted, begrudgingly.

What is Mariota supposed to do?  Put his uniform on and go out to the field despite the fact that he was inactive?

lol

Doctor: your QB has a fracture in his vertebrae.

Team: Damn.

Doctor: He’s risking his career and does not need to play.

Team: well, we are going to let him throw some passes before the game and see what we think.

That at is literally the logic being used right now.

Likely they got a diagnosis that an injury could end his career. It was not going to be a high percentage chance and there was not agreement internally on if they should take the risk for the win. Coaches and player thought the risk low enough.  FO thought it too high.

FO made the final call late

Never said anything of the sort, though I have said that sense it is obvious it was the nerve he should have told them to fuck off and if they wanted to start Gabbert then so be it.

Yep. That’s what I think as well. There’s no way that ends up being a fractured vertebrae though. If that’s the diagnosis he’s immediately shutdown.

Did you take a stupid pill at the game? The pre game workout had nothing to do with his availability for the game. The decision had already been made. You have no idea what the workout consisted of. It could have been simple range of motion and/or feeling testing.
