Butler was damn good the 2nd half of the year. The premise CB is a need is laughable.

I'm not saying they need a CB but the idea Butler was so good the 2nd half is way overstated.

Butler was reduced to being the 3rd CB the 2nd half, Ryan started in the base defense over Butler. It's not a big deal since they usually play 3 CBs but they also didn't put Butler on opposing top WRs. Jackson did, he did well vs Gordon but was roasted by Hilton. If Butler played up to his contract he would have been asked to cover these guys.

Was Butler better? Yes but he was also asked to do less and the team protected him. Which I'm not knocking since his contract guarantees he's on the roster.

I believe after filling the holes at OLB/Veteran WR in FA, JRob needs to turn his attention to the offense early in the draft, we haven't had a top 10 scoring offense since 2003, He needs to give Arthur Smith the pieces he needs to run his offense.

A dual threat TE and mobile/nasty elite run blocking OG should be the priorities in the first round, the 4 guys JRob should target are.

Hockenson

Irv Smith Jnr

Ford

Lindstrom

I could see us teaming Landry up with Zach Allen, honestly.  I think he's a dark horse for our first round pick who could player OLB or DE.

Burns is not a good fit for Morgan's spot on the strong side of the defense. He's too weak in run defense.  Chase Winovich is a better choice in the 2nd if we don't sign someone in free agency.

We need to consider the fact that JRob has historically used his top pick to address the team’s most glaring and immediate need...and right now, offense is a much bigger need than defense.

It’s also worth noting that last year, JRob invested his top three picks on defensive upgrades, and one of two first-round picks in 2017.

Consider JRob’s track record and the team’s current situation, it’s probably a safe bet that this year’s first round pick will be used to bring in help on offense at a ball-handling position.

Hopefully, If we go offense in the first it means we made some improvements on defense in free agency.

I'm set on: Either Smith and Trey Flowers

I think that’s a given at this point. Defensive free agents that is.
