AFC Playoff Standings

The Bengals (who just fired their DC) and Ravens (who are reportedly going to part ways with Harbaugh) look like they're kind of imploding. I don't think they can stick it out for the long haul.

The downfall of these two teams opens up a new pathway to the playoffs for the Titans.

The Chargers are going to get a wild-card birth no doubt, we will not be able to catch them.

We can either hope the Texans fall off and that we go on a tear and win the division (possible, actually). Or we can hope for the continued downfall of the Ravens, Bengals, Dolphins for a wildcard birth. This seems like the more likely pathway at this early stage.

Looking forward to seeing how it plays out.

Thoughts?

I almost don't want to even think about playoff scenarios. I'm enjoying just watching the games on Sunday with them playing well and improving.

The Texans don't even need to "fall off", really.    If we beat Indy next week, then 1st place in the division is on the line the following week in Houston regardless of what the Texans do n

Titans need to win the division and be done with it. If we can't beat Indy and Hou down the stretch then they don't deserve the playoffs.

True.

This to me is the toughest part of their schedule.  If they can somehow get both of the games they're up very nicely to take the division.  If they come out 1-1 they're probably fine.  0-2 and they likely need to run the table to have a chance at any playoff spot.  Their tie-breakers in the division are excellent but terrible in the conference.

One game at a time. Don't look too far ahead or behind.  Stay focused on the task at hand. We have put together a string on well played games, even if they all weren't a W. The Titans are coming together as a team at the right time. They have bought in to Vrabel and the staff. The staff is improving by the week and installing a good gameplan for the talent we have on the roster. Everybody is contributing. Titans football is fun to watch again. Titanup!

For division, first tie-breaker is division record, right (after H2H, of course)?

The thing about the Texans is they keep getting super lucky. Reich gave them a win instead of a tie when he went for it on 4th down. Against the Cowboys Deshaun just threw it up to Hopkins who ran like 40 yards to get into field goal position to win in OT. Against the Bills they were down by 3 late in the 4th and Deshaun fumbles it and the Bills weren't able to come up with it. Then Deshaun again just throw it up somewhere near Hopkins and draws a PI and they win.  Against the Broncos the Denver coaching staff just stops trying to move the ball when they get into the edge of field goal range, then they miss the kick to win the game. Stuff like this keeps going their way.

Yes.  And then it's common opponents and the Titans, if it gets that far, already clinched it over the Texans and the Colts.  Put another way, if the Titans end up 5-1 in the division they will win all division tie-breakers.

Hell theyre the only win for the Giants. At least Buffalo has won 3 games.
