Popular Post nine
The officiating in the Titans/Dolphins game was an exercise in utter and complete incompetence. Minor: On two separate occasions, Jerome Boger gave the hand signal for an illegal procedure while calling a defensive neutral zone infraction. The first time he caught it and corrected himself mid-call; the second time he did it, there was no correction. The guy has been an NFL official for over a decade...and he's still having trouble with basic hand signals? Highly questionable: the personal foul call on Malcom Butler. Butler had wrapped up a receiver who was fighting to break free...the whistle hasn't blown, so Butler does a full-body takedown and pulls the receiver to the ground on top of himself. Had Butler body-slammed the guy and landed on top of him, then I can see it being flagged....but in this case, Butler basically body-slammed himself. In 40+ years of watching football, and I've never seen this play draw a flag. The blindside crack-back block that ended Taylor Lewan's day. The flag was thrown as the play ended, just before the bench-clearing melee in the middle of the field started.....so obviously one of the officials saw some sort of infraction during the play. The crackback block happened just a few feet from the ballcarrier, so it was a pretty obvious candidate. But after the smoke cleared and the officials had a five-minute meeting and consulted the league office....they came back and called offsetting taunting penalties against both teams, including two Titans defensive players who weren't even on the field during the play. The violation that was spotted and flagged during the play was neither mentioned nor penalized. The phantom holding call on Delanie Walker that negated Henry's 60+ yard TD run. I have absolutely no idea what the official saw on this play. Walker is executing a textbook block on a defender who has one hand firmly gripping Delanie's facemask.....and Delanie is flagged for holding, thus negating a game-tying touchdown. I knew officiating was going to be a problem the moment I saw Jerome Boger's crew was working the game; Boger and Pete Morelli are neck and neck for the title of "NFL's most incompetent referee". I usually don't have a problem with it, since they're equally incompetent for both teams.....but that wasn't the case yesterday. In this particular game, it truly felt like every major blown call worked in one team's favor. I'm not blaming bad officiating for the loss; the Titans played very, very poorly and absolutely deserved to lose that game. The poor officiating simply helped to ensure the outcome. MIKE75
The call on Delanie holding wiped out a game-tying TD 2 THINGS..... BULLSHIT CALL and FUCK JEROME BOGER SuperFreak90
currage
The hit on Lewan was exactly the type of hit that the NFL put in the new targeting/lowering the helmet/hit to a defenseless player rules in for. It is ridiculous that Branch wasn’t ejected. The NFL ejected Shaun Williams for a much less egregious play earlier in the day. Additionally, it sure looked like Tajae Sharpe bumped legs with Reshard Jones on the interception, which should have been called down by contact at the Miami 45. Also, I went back and watched the Delanie Walker injury and it was a pretty clear horse collar tackle. The defender had his left hand around Walker’s nameplate/neck and used his entire body weight to tackle him. There is way too much inconsistency in the calls for a professional sport. nine
I didn't have a problem at all with the tackle on Delanie. It was a clean tackle....the fact that the defender ended up landing on his ankle was just plain bad luck. Football is a game filled with violent collisions....sometimes unfortunate things happen and guys get hurt. titanruss
japan
Wasn't Boger the guy who officiated the Seattle game where there was the altercation and offsetting penalties? titanruss

While things got testy nobody threw punches. And how the hell, after an int where our LT gets knocked silly would Titans get called for taunting? Taunting what? The refs totally sucked that game. As far as crack back blocks there might not be a better one than the one Randy Starks delivered a number of years ago when with the Titans. Don't remember who that was against but it was almost criminal. It was Kellen Winslow I do believe...

ChesterCopperpot1
Vrabel wanted to challenge Jones being down by contact, but he was told he couldn’t. That should have been automatically reviewed, but it wasn’t. How can NFL officiating be so poorly done?

I don't understand how they reached the conclusion, looked close enough to be reviewed in my opinion.

Not only did it look close enough for review, it looked pretty clear that Sharpe touched him down.
