Tex in a Can
How long before he starts alongside Woodyard, that's the question. We still have a weakness at ILB with Woodyard and Brown or Woodyard and a green rookie Evans. Teams will be watching the NE play off game. freakingeek

He'll get spot duty and situational work. Edited August 16, 2018 by reo
Popular Post TerryBoats
Rashaan Evans earned the 2nd-lowest overall grade by a rookie LB in the PFF era (2006-Present) in Weeks 1-6. (per Austin Gayle) In Weeks 7-13, Evans earned the No. 7 overall grade (83.5) and No. 2 run-defense grade (90.4). reo, Supernope, TeamBass, and 7 others

Huston
He's getting more and more comfortable and hits like a ton of bricks but can also cover which is pretty rare. Edited December 4, 2018 by Huston OILERMAN, and reo

Ya, he would be playing almost every snap if Woodyard and Brown weren't playing very good as well. But the first few games he just looked so lost and wouldn't pull the triger on going for the tackle till there were other players on some1. It was tough to watch. I think most of the good posters on here didn't think he would contribute much this season after missing camp. I wonder what's up with the people who were shocked that he was not good early. Popular Post Face
It's going to be interesting to see how we use Evans going forward. His run defense has obviously been tremendous, I love watching him knife thru traffic & just sticking the ball carrier. But IMO anytime he's in coverage is a wasted opportunity. It's not that he's bad in coverage, he's a bit shaky but he'll improve. It's just that he's so explosive going forward, downhill, going after the QB & RB. Did anybody see the play where he lined up as an edge rusher against Houston, with about 3 or 4 mins left in the game? He basically lined up as a wide 9 right end & his burst off the edge was electric. Just seeing that one rush, we haven't had somebody who can turn the corner like that in God knows how long. I understand what the reports meant when they said he plays with a "violent burst". The other thing is he played as an edge rusher until his last year at Bama & his pass rush production was off the charts. He racked up a huge number of sacks & pressures per snap. You just have to take advantage of this type of pass rush talent, it's too rare. You don't drop this kid into coverage more then a handful of snaps a game. When we drafted him it made perfect sense since the Pats system blitzes the SAM LBer so often. I figured they'd just blitz him a ton. But now I'm thinking they have to go one step further & play him at LOLB. It's the perfect spot for him because they probably rush about 70% of the time & play as a standard LBer about 30. He is light at 232 although most expect him to play at about 240. I'm also fine with him playing inside on early downs & then kicking outside on passin g downs. But he needs to be going after the QB when passing, not being wasted dropping into coverage. IsntLifeFunny, japan, ChemEngr79, and 3 others
OILERMAN
I feel really good about Evans lately, I'd guess he'll replace Woodyard, who is obviously fading down the stretch. Starkiller, StLouisTitansFan, reo, and 1 other 3

He had been showing flashes in games but it feels like the lights switched on for him last week, he is starting to diagnose and react quicker which means he is getting around the ball and impacting the play on a more regular basis, led the team in tackles for the first time yesterday. headhunter
I like Evans, he'll be a good replacement for Woodyard. Ill say Brown is playing like the best player on the entire team its crazy Mythos27
