Trump will meet with the Chinese in China in November. You can bet that Trump will negotiate the end of little fat boy's tenure as the leader of North Korea, get rid of their nukes, in exchange for a negotiated trade deal . China will become our biggest energy customer, as they will buy our LNG and coal.

Like it or not, Trump is a business genius.

Notice also there is no link to the claim that 25% of Chinese factories are sitting idle.  There is a reason for that.

A quick google search shows articles claiming that 25% of their factories that manufacture sportswear are idle.  That's far from their entire economy as the post implies.

What is being missed here isn't just the trade dollars but the fact we have little choice but to force China to change their ways.  For years we have coddled them and let them take advantage of our technology.  This has gone on now long enough.

For starters all the cry baby stuff we see is moronic.  Our economy is strong.  This is the perfect time to conclude this.  At this point it is more about having the staying power and not subjecting our decisions to liberal emotions.  China's trade policies have raped the US of money and jobs for years.  Now of course China isn't going to go without a fight.  They will drag this out as long as they can knowing our spineless liberal media and politicians will fight the battle for them.   Every American should be on board with Trump in full support of gaining the victory.  If the Chinese saw that Americans were standing together on this they would cave.

Good article by CNN.

Its almost like if we'd worked with our allies in Europe and come at this together we'd have had more leverage.

But instead he attacks everyone.

Except Russia of course.

@Soxcat just extend the logic and quit being shortsighted. China is not a fair trading partner to other nations, too. Also, the other pacific nations don’t necessarily want China economic domination either. China was the bad guy. Now the US looks like rogue bad actors in international trade. We’ve lost leverage and our global standing. Pooch screwed by the worst president in generations.

I wouldn't say "look like" bad actors...

The TPP deal was designed to fight China. Trump bailed on it.

I don't think that's what it was specifically designed for, but would have certainly alienated China and if they wanted to get it in on it they'd have to play by the rules.

Of course, the right doesn't like a nuanced approach.  They're more about the tough guy approach.

I was thinking it was but figured I didn't know enough about it to speak on it and didn't have the time to research it.

In their rush to just, "blow shit up" and even better trash anything Obama implemented, they failed to recognize agreements like TPP, the Iran deal or even the ACA might not be perfect, but they are initial versions that can and should be tweaked over time.

Instead, they rush in full of slogans and bluster without any alternatives or comprehension of the long term ramifications of their actions.

The Iowa Corn Growers Association (ICGA) blasted the Trump administration on Tuesday, saying the government has put it in "one hell of a bad situation."

The trade association hammered President Trump for approving what it called 31 "unjustified" refinery waivers tied to ethanol, along with his year-plus trade war with China. Those two issues, combined with the effects of climate change, are forcing the value of Iowa corn to drop ahead of harvest season, the group said.

"Agriculture is in one hell of a bad situation right now. The government put us in this situation, and they need to help us get out of it," Vic Miller, a corn farmer from Fayette County, said in a statement. "It's time for President Trump to make rural America and the [Renewable Fuel Standard] great again. He made promises to American farmers and now it's time for him to keep them."

The National Farmers Union also hit Trump in a statement last week, saying his trade war is "making things worse."
