Did Kawhi quit on SA?

Recommended Posts

I think he did.

Back in November, Pop said he expected him to be back at some point.

Then came January or February, and Pop said he didn't expect him to come back right before playoffs and play. As in, he wouldn't allow him to just jump back in come playoff time.

Once kawhi heard that, he came out and said he planned to be back in March sometime.

So far, he still isn't on the court. And now, of all ppl, Parker speaks up.

Basically called KL a bitch. At least, thats the way I took it.

Now, if he did quit on SA, and his injury isnt as bad as he's making it out to be, you can add him next to LeBron on the list of players I don't want in LA.

Don't worry, most good players want to play for a contender so they won't even consider playing for the Lakers.

Maybe if they're lucky they can sign Paul George and Cousins, and everyone knows what a cancer Boogie is in the locker room. Perfect fit for LA.

Yeah he's a bitch.  He wants to get traded to an LA team.  His problem is that he won't get the "supermax" contract if he chooses to sign with another team after next year.

Every doctor has cleared him for play but he refuses to play.  It's pretty bad when one his teammates tore a quad muscle (Parker) and is back playing before him.  Oh and he also refuses to communicate with his teammates which is another issue.

That makes zero sense. Why would he refuse to play if he was 100% healthy and there was little to no chance of being re-injured when he knows that would be the best way convince to the Spurs to give him his super max deal this summer? This whole thing is bullshit.

Well according to you gusy want to play for a contender. Even with KL, the Spurs are not.

So he must only want to play in CLE or GS.

His new "advisor" is his uncle who is infleuncing him to return "home" to LA.  It's really strange and confusing.  He's sort of alienated himself from the team.  I think the pain might be psychosomatic as well.

What's funny is that ppl always think its all about money....

And those who say he can only get a max deal from SA are clueless to the guidelines of the current CBA.

If KL did want to go to LA and he wasn't traded, he could opt out after next season and sign a two year deal for about 5-6 million (per year) less than what SA could hive him. (If the CBA stays the same)

Then he signs his max deal the year after at the same 35% of total team salary as any other team could.

So he could stand to only lose 10-12 million. And for someone who will make close to if not mkre than 200+ mill over the next 7 or so years,  that 10 million im sure is worth giving up to be somewhere where you think you'll be happier.

Stan

Tony Parker called him out saying his injury was worse and at his age is back sooner. It’s clear he doesn’t wanna play in SA.

People make it sound like he'll be losing 30, 40, 50+ million to leave SA.

Not even close.

Clueless as usual.

From post #559: Difference is 70 million if he leaves after next year and signs 4 year max deal with another team.  Gap closes a bit if he gets traded and signs extension. But he's going to lose a significant amount of money.

Now, if he is dumb enough to sign a four year deal after his opt out year, you would be right.

But there is a way to work the system and lose only bread crumbs compared to your process.
